    2. Project Goals and Objectives This grant will help us include our high risk and multicultural students into the goals outlined by our Wellness Policy. Hudson Public Schools already has a Food Service Advisory Committee in place. Four educators will attended additional courses through the Stalker Institute on nutrition. Including multicultural instructional ideas. To foster a better image and services for the community and students at Hudson High School. Encourage administration to pursue making Wellness education a graduating requirement for the students at Hudson High.

    3. Description/Image of what was Developed Purchased 200 cases of water to be distributed to all students during all MCAS testing. Supplied FREE nutritional breakfast for all 8th and 10th grade students during MCAS. Purchased heart rate monitors to increase cardiovascular fitness and strength/overall fitness. Purchased pedometer for all staff and students in PE classes to promote life long wellness. Attended MAPHERD and Holy Cross Nutritional conference for staff development. Purchased weight equipment for students and sport teams. Attended John Stalker Institute for cultural nutrition workshop. Attended Massachusetts National Guard leadership reaction course at Camp Edwards with students. Sponsored by Counter Drug Operation Unit based in Milford, MA Presented Freedom Calls to grades 9 -12 . Topics included drugs, alcohol, bulling and suicide prevention.

    4. List Community Activity Reported to HPS School Committee regarding the grant and our goals. Newspaper articles promoting the grant activities published in Metrowest Daily and Hudson Sun Newspaper Interviewed for future wellness article for MTA Today magazines.

    5. Measure Success Number of students that took advantage of FREE water and breakfast during MCAS testing. Hudson achieved the highest MCAS scores to date. The number of faculty and students using pedometers and heart rate monitors. Positive feedback from staff and students on Freedom Calls presentation and Camp Edwards trip.

    6. Continue Momentum Continue to increase administration support with new Health Curriculum Coordinator and new Superintendent. Development of new Health Fair opening up better networking with various community organizations. (11/2/2007) Update school committee with accomplishments. Continue to seek out additional grants to support our program.
