  1. The Do and Don'ts of Packing for Your Move

  2. If moving was not stressful enough, now you have to worry that all your things are packed properly and arrive at your new destination in one piece. I will tell you that is possible if you follow some simple rules and precautions.

  3. Leave all the organizing for the move-in: I know, in the heat of the move, you throw whatever you left on the counter in a box and call it good. But, we I worn you that bite back later. I promise, when you've reach your destination, you will thank yourself for spending a few extra minutes making sure your toothpaste, screwdriver and dishes are in separate boxes. A little organizing when you pack, will save you ample time on your move in.

  4. Not mark your boxes: Not only will you have to open all your boxes to find your toothbrush but you will most likely have boxes in all the wrong places… just avoid this all together.

  5. Ruin your brand new carpet: I am sure with all the in and out of the new house your new carpet will look like you are moving out. You can put some old blankets down or used boxes to keep it looking nice and new.

  6. Pack everything you have plus your neighbor’s things: Think of it this way, moving is a way to clean out that garage and lighten the load. Not only will you save money if you are hiring a moving company (Long distance movers charge by weight) but you will clutter free.

  7. Bring your house plant: I know it’s your baby, ever since you raised it from a little seedling, but unless you are willing to give up that climate controlled passenger seat for your fern, Long distance moves are a tough sell for the living green. Find your plan a good home and move on with your life….
