  1. Alaska – The Land of Million Lakes (Short Story)

  2. Eric Smith and Jack Adamson live in Alaska USA. Eric works in a multilevel marketing company and Jack works as a freelance writer. Eric is tall and slim while Jack is obese due to his sedentary lifestyle. Jack has come to Eric’s house after 1 month. Eric asked, “What is the length of alaska’s shoreline?” Jack said “It is nearly 34,000 miles. Do you have any idea about Aleutian islands?”

  3. Eric said, “It extends west from southern tip of Alaska Peninsula. Have you heard about the volcanoes?” Jack replied, “Oh Yes! These volcanoes are active and found in Aleutians and coastal areas. But where is Mount Shishaldin? I will go there next week!” Eric said, “ It is in Unimak island and it has volcano that are smoldering and it increases to around ten thousand feet above north pacific. Why is it popular?”

  4. Jack said, “ This is perfect volcanic cone on our Earth and its symmetry is greater than Mount Fuji of Japan. What is mount spur popular for?” Eric said, “There is a chain of volcanoes west of the Anchorage over mainland. By the way, what is the opinion of geologists?” Jack said, “ They think that this is a portion of wrangelia and it is a big area having multiple states and there are provinces of Canada across pacific northwest. The continent building is going on!”

  5. Eric said “That is interesting! Where does biggest tide occur?” Jack said, “It happens in Turnagain Arm and it is the southern part of Anchorage. How many lakes are there in Alaska?” Eric said, “There are three million lakes in Alaska! How much area does the permafrost of wetland and marshlands cover?”

  6. Jack said, “They include 188,320 square miles. How much area does the glacier ice covers?” Eric replied, “ I read in the general knowledge books that it is 28,957 square miles or 75,000 km2 of Alaska. “ Jack asked, “Which is the largest glacier in our North America?”

  7. Eric said, “It is bering glacier. What is the area?” Jack said “ As per the researchers, it is 2,008 square miles or 5,200 km2”. Eric said, “Where was oil discovered? Which year?” Jack replied, “It is 1968 and it is found at Prudhoe Bay. Do you have any idea about trans Alaska pipeline system?”

  8. Eric said, “It was finished in 1977 and it helped in the spread of oil. Who got the benefit from the royalty revenues of oil?” Jack said, “ There was big state budgets from 1980 and later.When did the income tax of Alaska repealed?” Eric said, “It occurred in 1980. What was the environmental disaster?”

  9. Jack said, “ A reef was struck by Exxon valdez in 1989 at Prince William Sound. There was spillage of around 11 million gallons of oil and about 1100 miles of coastline was polluted.” Eric said, “That is really bad! Jack asked, “What are the different areas of employment?”

  10. Eric said, “They are natural resource extraction, shipping, and transportation. There are Military bases which have been vital part of economy in Fairbanks North Star, Anchorage and Kodiak Island boroughs, and Kodiak.” Jack asked, “What is assumed as vital aspect of economy in Alaska?” Eric said, “They are federal subsidies and it permits state to maintain low taxes.”

Jack asked, “What are the industrial outputs?” Eric said, “They are crude petroleum, natural gas, coal, gold, precious metals, zinc and different mining, seafood processing, timber and wood products. What about music of Alaska?” Jack said, “The music of Alaska is traditional music of the Alaska Natives and folk music presented by immigrants from Europe and Russia.Who are the renowned musicians of Alaska?”

  12. Eric said, “They are singer Jewel, and Aleut flautist named Mary Youngblood. There is Libby Roderick who is folk singer-songwriter. Lincoln Brewster is Christian music singer-songwriter. We have metal/post hardcore band named 36 crazyfists along with groups like Portugal and Pamyua.” Jack asked, “What are the different music festivals here?”

Eric said, “They are Alaska folk festival, Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival, Anchorage Folk Festival, the Athabascan old time fiddling festival, Sitka Jazz Festival, Sitka summer music festival.” Jack asked, “Which is the popular orchestra?” Eric said “It is Anchorage symphony orchestra. There is reputation of Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra and Juneau symphony.”

  14. Jack asked, “What is the alaska’s state song?” Eric said, “It is “alaska’sflag.What was the time of adoption?” Jack said, “In 1955, the adoption has been made. It talks about the Alaska’s flag.” Eric said, “Wow ! Lets have some tea and snacks! After that, lets go out for an evening walk.” Jack said, “Ok Great!”
