  6. Parents as TeachersGraduates How the PAT Graduates were located: Dogged determination by Marilyn • Used hard-copy student lists with Dob from 1992 to 2004 • Located students in the district data base • Applied their unique student number to their names

  7. No statistical comparisons can be made to the general grade population scores • There is no tracking of student achievement progress over AIMS tests (YET) Points to Remember in Interpreting Results • PAT graduates are reported as a group by grade(s)

  8. How far we have come! • Spring 2005: 40 PAT Graduates located • Spring 2006: 59 PAT Graduates located • Spring 2007: 81 PAT Graduates located

  9. Arizona Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) Spring 2008 • 248 PAT Graduates located that have taken AIMS (554 total located in ICampus) • Enrolled across all SUSD elementary and Middle schools • 71 3rd Grade • 50 4th Grade • 48 5th Grade • 37 6th Grade • 32 7th Grade • 10 8th Grade

  10. What to look for… • A series of pie charts with four colors. • We want to see • Small Red slices (FFB) • Big Green Slices (Meets) • Big BLUE slices (Exceeds) • If there is a difference (not statistical but practical) between SUSD and the subset of PAT graduates

  11. Story Questions • What story can we tell about the PAT program based on the 2008 AIMS results? • What additional analysis needs to occur to tell an even clearer picture?

  23. Summary • Overall P.A.T. Graduates perform well on the AIMS • Overall P.A.T. Graduates outperformed the rest of the district – Especially Math • PAT SPED students performed as well as the rest of PAT graduates • Few students in the Falls far Below Category • Impressive amount of students in many of the Exceeds category

Next Analysis Steps • Control for continuous years in district • ELL from the standpoint of years needed for advancement and reclassification • Use of Intake Form information to discern patterns while in PAT • Longitudinal trends from KG on • Additional Data (DIBELS, Lang!, Reading level, etc.) • Locate a full time research analyst for PreK
