  2. We, at PureFilters, are committed to our mission of providing top-quality air filters to you. This mission also involves informing you about the different types of filters you can purchase to make your life easier. Today, we are going to tell you all about furnace filters and their types.

  3. What is a furnace filter? The first thing you need to know about this filter is that it can be used interchangeably with an air filter, HVAC filter, and furnace air filter. These filters are inserted inside the HVAC unit, which includes a furnace or an air conditioner. The purpose of this type of filter is to trap all the particles that are present in the air. How does this filter work? As mentioned before, the filter is designed so it traps the particles that are available in the air. By doing so, it avoids these particles from landing up within the room or HVAC system. So, when you install this filter, you ensure that the air coming into your room is clean. Now that you are familiar with how a furnace filter will help you, it is time to learn about the different types. It will enable you to choose the filter that is best suited to your needs.

  4. The Fiberglass Filter While you might be tempted by the cost of this type of filter, you also need to keep in mind that it is the least effective filter available in the market. It can protect you from particles like pollen and dust, but it does not trap smaller particles like bacteria and smoke. They also need to be replaced every single month, which can turn out to be an expensive affair in the long-run. The Electrostatic Filter The filter is made from vented metal pieces. Due to this, the filter generates static electricity when air passes through it. Hence, the filter can attract and trap larger particles like textile and carpet fibers, but cannot trap smaller particles like mold spores and pollen. These filters should be replaced yearly and washed monthly so they can work optimally.

  5. The Pleated Filter The filter, most commonly seen in homes, is made from materials like polyester, paper, and cotton. The good news is that you can buy them in a disposable format and replace them every three months. You can also buy permanent filters that are highly efficient and useful for people who have respiratory issues. These filters protect you against bacteria such as Legionella and the smaller particles and compounds found in home cleaning products. The HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) Filter It is a filter that pushes the air through a fine mesh, which can trap over 99% particles, which can be as tiny as 0.3 microns. The filter, usually available in hospitals, will protect you against airborne diseases by looking after various bacteria and viruses present in the air. However, it is not that efficient when looking at odours and gases. Now that you know the pros and cons of each filter, you can go ahead and buy the filter of your choice at PureFilters.
