  1. To do:add map of triana and tomaresprint bi polar sheet

  2. Investigation: Theme 1.2 Settlement ‘The difference in quality of life between different residential environments within a settlement’.

  3. Coursework in a Lesson! L/O: To be able to explain how coursework should be structured and flow from one part to the next Key Words Primary Evidence – that you collected yourself Valid – Trustworthy, based on good evidence Quality of Life – How happy people are. Can be dependent on family, health etc Standard of Living – How much money you have and material processions e.g. salary, house, car

  4. Coursework in a Lesson! L/O: To be able to explain how coursework should be structured and flow from one part to the next THINK: How much is the coursework isworth? What parts would you expect to include?

  5. CW Basic Structure 4) Results Graphs and description of graphs  5) Conclusion Are hypotheses correct? Which area has a better QOL? 6) Evaluation How could you improve? Limitations of our data 1)Introduction Hypothesis Definition of QOL 2) Method How you will investigate this 3) Data Collection Collecting data to investigate Primary and Secondary Evidence

  6. Introduction • Extension • Draw annotated lines to link your spider diagrams together to show how QOL +SOL overlap You need a Hypothesis The quality of life is higher in Tomares (rural urban fringe) than in Triana (city centre) Define Quality of Life and Standard of Living giving examples QOL (How good your life is) SOL (The things you have in your life)

  7. Intro suggestion:Annotate map to explain location of Tomaresand Triana

  8. CA Basic Structure 4) Results Graphs and description of graphs  5) Conclusion Are hypotheses correct? Which area has a better QOL? 6) Evaluation How could you improve? Limitations of our data 1)Introduction Hypothesis Definition of QOL 2) Method How you will investigate this 3)Data Collection Collecting data to investigate

  9. 3) Data Collection Investigate the environment of two areas by . . . . • Fill out the bi-polar sheet yourself for your neighbourhood using ticks • Interview your partner and get the same information for his/her neighbourhood using another symbol

  11. Extension: Describe and explain what your results show in a paragraph beside your display Results What kinds of different displays could you use?

  12. Graph 1 – Primary Data Description of Graph I have drawn a radar graph to show the quality of housing in Chislehurst and Downham. As you can see from my graph Chislehurst is better. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

  14. Conclusion • In a paragraph, explain . . . . . • Which area has a better QOL? • Referring to your results, explain why better housing will provide a better QOL. In graph 1 I investigated whether the housing in Chislehurst was better than in Grove Park. To answer this question I created a radar graph and focused on design, size and building materials. My graph showed that Chislehurst had better housing than Grove Park in all categories. However I still think that Downham is better because there is more going on. This will make Downham people happier.

  15. Conclusion In a paragraph, explain . . . . . • Which area has a better QOL? • Referring to your results, explain why better housing will provide a better QOL. In graph 1 I investigated whether the housing in Chislehurst was better than in Grove Park.To answer this question I created a radar graph and focused on design, size and building materials. • My graph showed that Chislehurst had better housing than Grove Parkin all categories.Having a large well built and designed house will give residents of Chislehurst a better quality of life because it will mean that children can have more space to play indoors and have their own bedroom rather than having to share.

  17. Evaluation - WWW/EBI Think about the conclusion you came to about the 2 areas’ quality of environment. How valid do you think your conclusion was? For your WWW give a detailed reason it was valid. For the EBI a detailed reason it was invalid e.g. WWW – My conclusions were based on Primary Evidence that I collected and so are reliable because . . . . . . EBI – I only interviewed one person from each area. My conclusions were invalid because . . . . They could be improved by . . . .
