  1. Kindergarten Parent Orientation WELCOME! Please be seated. Use the index card for listing: Name child wants to be called at school (please list first and last name!)   3. Study Trips • Plays (literacy connection) • Pumpkin Farm, Animal Farm • Art Museum • Nature Studies • In School Video Conferences • Approximate (per student) total cost for the year’s study trips is $60, collected in September. • Kindergarten fieldtrip t-shirts will be ordered during the first month of school (Approx.$7)

  4. Parent/Grandparent Volunteers • Party Planning • In-Class Helpers • At-Home Helpers • Study Trip Chaperones • Confidential background check – all volunteers/chaperones (done every three years). • For the safety of your child, all adults who wish to come into the building will need to sign-in and pick up a Visitor’s Badge in the office.

  5. Birthdays • Birthday treats are welcome. Please make arrangements with your child’s teacher. • Alternate days may be chosen to celebrate summer birthdays. • We are more than happy to distribute party invitations in the home folders provided that all the girls, all the boys, or the entire class is invited. • Food allergies: all classes-no nuts for treats

  6. Snacks • Each child may bring a healthy snack for him/herself each day. Examples include: fruit, vegetables, pretzels, breadsticks, crackers, cheese, or unsweetened cereal. • Please DO NOT send dessert-type items, “fruit snacks”, chips, cookies or juice. • NO nuts for snacks.

  7. Lunch, Recess, and Quiet Time • Kindergarten Lunch Supervisors escort the children to lunch, help them in the Monet Café, supervise their recess, and monitor their quiet time; while classroom teachers are out of the room for team meetings, lunch and planning time. • Parents who wish to eat school lunch with their child(ren) should notify the office (262-789-6581) by 8:35 a.m. to ensure a correct lunch count. • https://www.mylunchmoney.com/index.aspx

  8. Lunch Debit Cards • Each kindergarten child will have a debit card for school lunch and milk. • Deposit envelopes are available in the office or you may direct deposit money into Infinite Campus. • Students lunch- $2.40 (includes milk) • Milk- $0.35 • Adult or extra student lunch- $ 3.50

  9. Parent Transportation • Children should be dropped off at the parent transport lane (on the North end of the school) between 8:25 and 8:35. • Parents picking up children during the school day for appointments etc. should park and go to the school office to meet and sign out their child. • Specific drop-off procedures are distributed from the office.

  10. Dismissal • Children going home with their parents (or other “approved” adult) are dismissed first, at 3:25 to the parent pick up line. • Children riding buses or day care vans are dismissed as the vehicles arrive, after 3:35. • Children enrolled in the After School program are escorted to their room at dismissal.

  11. Bus Dismissal • All kindergartners will be escorted from their buses to their classrooms each morning until the children are familiar with the school. • Kindergartners will be escorted to their buses or the parent pick-up line each afternoon.

  12. Notes/Emails • We need notification from a parent for ANY alternate transportation from school to home. • Please call the office with any last minute changes. • Lacking a note, we will send children home according to normal routine.

  13. Absences • PLEASE call the office as soon as you know your child will be absent from school. • Please send a note to your child’s teacher for any planned absences/vacations. This will be forwarded to the office. • Per district policy, planned absences need to be approved by our building principal, Mr. Lindner

  15. Formal Communication • Parent Teacher Conferences - Fall (all families) - Spring (if requested) • Kindergarten Progress Reports - Accessed through Parent Portal on Infinite Campus - January & June (end-of-semester)

  16. Helpful Hints • Please put a luggage-style tag on your child’s LARGE backpack, including bus number to and from school. • Please label all your child’s personal items, including: jackets, boots, hats mittens, etc.. Do NOT label disposable school supplies such as pencils, markers, crayons, glue, erasers etc. • Make sure to label your child’s three-fold rest mat. • Please send an old short sleeved t-shirt for an art smock. NO plastic smocks, please. • Gym shoes do not have to be new.

  17. Lost and Found • Lost and Found is located outside the Monet Café in the main hallway. • If your child loses something on the bus, it is taken to the bus company’s lost and found. (262-784-7278)

  18. Open House/Meet the Teacher • Late August • Return registration/emergency forms • Classroom assignments • Drop off school supplies in classroom **Those who preordered school supplies from SchoolKidz can pick them up on Forms and Photos Day prior to Open House Night.

  19. Cheers and Tears • First day of school (approximate times 8:45-10:00) • Parent drop off in classroom • Short presentation in the library • Meet and greet kindergarten parents
