  1. OPPORTUNITY TO DEFEND ONESELF Self –defense or private defense can be see as a defensive measure that involves protecting oneself or property from physical harm or annihilation. An individual possesses the right to defend himself from physical danger or from legal infringement. Self-defense can either be armed or unarmed defending on severity, mental and physical preparedness of the defender. Meaning of Community Services Community Service is an activity which involves the voluntary actions of individuals in community development and well-being. Community Service can occur in such field as health care, child care, literacy training, education, welfare, social services, rural development etc. Community Services based organization are as follows: The Red Cross The Boys’ Scout The Girls’ Guide The Rotary Club The United Nations Volunteer Programme

  2. Examples of Community Services Voluntary work in orphanage homes Cleaning of drainages, buying waste basket and displacing refuses Beautification of the environment. Hospitality: care for the aged Tree planting Rehabilitation programmes and seminar as well as skill acquisition training programmes. Giving vaccine to children and release materials to victims of natural disasters. Importance of Community Services Community Services breed moral values in individuals. Community Services promote community ties and communal relationship Community Services breed sense of concern for other individuals. Community Services promote community and national development. Community Services promote the development of personal and collective skills. Community Services help in bringing moral and financial support for the needy Community Services enhance respect and dignity for human persons.
