Patient Participation Groups • It’s in the CCG constitution- signed by all members- “each member shall set up a Patient Reference Group…. To encourage feedback from its patients” • The main way for patients to become involved in clinical commissioning (but not the only way!) • Out of 47 practices, we have over 40 with some form of PPG • Still lots of problems and difficulties…….

City Wide Health Forum • CVS groups, Community groups, Equalities groups, Patient Representatives • A pooling of intelligence • A place to bring city wide issues • A place to discuss wellbeing in it’s widest sense = HEALTHWATCH
How it fits together….. CCG Board HWBB Lay member for PPI CVS orgs Communities PPG members CCG/BHCC City Health Forum run via Healthwatch Patient reps via PPG’s
Reaching the “traditionally excluded” (CCG Engagement gateway review) • Rationale: • We are missing some groups in our current process • Funding is inequitable and not transparent • We need to link such groups more effectively • There needs to be a central place to collate/share intelligence
Gateway review • Prospectus model • Single pot of funding (top sliced) • Groups not defined • Inviting bids against key characteristics • Emphasis on social capital
Timeline • Prospectus expected to go out late October/early November • New arrangements to start July 2013 • Current arrangements to be extended until end June 2103 pending a review of 2012/13 spend
