  5. Reasons to meetwithyourschoolcounselor • Academicsuccess or struggle • Personalaccomplishments or difficulties • New transitions and changes • College and career planning • Safety and well-beingconcerns • Problemsolving • Friendship or relationship help

  6. Meeting withyourcounselor • Confidentiality Whatyoudiscuss in the counseling office staysbetweenyou and yourcounselor. There are onlythree exceptions. • If you are a danger to yourself. • If you are a danger to others. • If someoneelseis putting you in danger.

Meeting withyourcounselor • Make an appointment • Stop by the SchoolCounseling Office between classes, at lunch, or before/afterschool. • Select yourSchoolCounselor’sclipboard and register for a time and date thatis best for you. • You willget a pass on the dayyouregisteredduringhomeroom. *It isyourresponsibility to rememberyourappointment time*

  8. Attendance Be sure to tap in daily at the kiosk If you are absent, be sure to turn in a note to the table in the lobby within 3 days If you are absent, be sure to work with you teacher about making up the missed assignments

Graduation Requirements • 4 credits of English • 3.5 credits of Social Studies • 3-4 credits of Math • 3 credits of Science • 1 credit of Fine Arts • 1 credit of PhysicalEducation • 1 credit of TechnicalEducation • ½ credit of Health • A completerseries • 75 Service Learning Hours • Testing- HSA/PARCC

How to Succeed in High School Classwork Homework • Stay active in class from bell to bell • PARTICIPATE • Turn in your work on time • Classwork is 50% of your grade • Use a planner/your phone/Family Connection to keep track of assignments • Studying counts as homework- be prepared • Monitor your progress on BCPS One “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” -Wayne Gretzky

  14. GPA – Grade Point Average GPA stands for Grade Point Average Each letter grade you receive on your report card is assigned a value, known as a grade point. Cumulative GPA is the average of all your grade points, for each class you have taken during high school. There are two types of GPA, unweighted and weighted.

  15. GPA – Grade Point Average Colleges will look at both types of GPA during admission, but each college will have it’s own acceptable GPA range! However, many community colleges do not require specific GPA’s.

  18. College Corner!FLEX! Use your flex time to your benefit! Everyday during flex a counselor will be in room 51 with computers! Use this time to your advantage! You can also use this time to consult with a counselor about ANYTHING!
