  2. Are bats mammals or birds? • Bats are not birds! • Bats are mammals • Bats are warm blooded • Bats don’t have feathers • Bats have furry bodies • Bats don’t lay eggs

  3. Where do bats live? • Caves • Trees • Barns • Attics • Under Bridges

  4. How do bats fly in the dark? • Bats use echolocation • Bats make high beeping sounds as they fly • These sounds bounce off things like insects and fruit • Bats then follow the sounds

  5. What do bats eat? • Mostly insects • Fruit • Frogs • Small rodents

  6. When do bats sleep? • Bats sleep during the day • They sleep hanging upside down

  7. Do bats migrate? • Bats fly to warmer places when it starts to get cold

  8. Do bats hibernate? • Bats hibernate in the winter • Bats eat lots of food • Bats can’t hunt for insects or fruit in the winter

  9. Are bats dangerous? • Bats are only dangerous if sick or hurt • Bats are shy and gentle • Bats like to be left alone

  10. How are bats helpful to our world? • Bats eat millions of insects every night • These insects eat our crops • Bats spread pollen from plant to plant • Bats carry plant seeds from place to place
