Outline • Three categories of AUS • Update on Operational Activities • AUS.ASTA • AUS.ASP • AUS.ASEOT
Three Categories of AUS • Advanced Support for TeraGrid Applications (AUS.ASTA) • Advanced Support for Projects (AUS.ASP) • Advanced Support for EOT (AUS.ASEOT)
Update on Operational Activities (on 2/12) • Bi-weekly telecon among AUS POCs from every RP site • Web/Tele-con among AUS technical staff • Biweekly technical tele/webconference on ASTA and other projects - using readytalk • 9 (7) presentation sessions (including today), 17 (15) tech presentations • Recruited ~10 AUS staff for reviewing TRAC proposals that are too small and don’t require review by TRAC reviewers • Interaction regarding XDtransition activities, webpage • At later phase more AUS involvement regarding moving/porting to new resources from retired resources
ASTAs Started in October 2008 - TRAC • Two other ASTAs may not continue: • One was suggested by the reviewers (Elghobashi) • Another needed some help with locating user docs (Zabras) • Three other ASTAs started before October 2008
New Startup/Supplemental ASTAs since last RT update on 2/12/09 • Few more Startup/Supplements are being reviewed • Also learned about few more ongoing ASTAs while writing annual report (lead by ORNL and NIU)
Quick analysis of March TRAC ASTAs • 14 ASTAs got recommendation scores: 0-3 • 2 got zero score • 2 didn’t ask ASTA, but reviewers recommended ASTA • So 10 requested ASTAs got score 1-3 • Will provide more detail in next RT
Advanced Support Projects • Two (Molecular Dynamics and Material Science) projects ongoing • Generating other potential great ideas • Some results can be complicated with multi-cores etc. • Main issue is how to present results to be useful for beginner and experienced users • Working with doc group to present results on webpage • Will provide detail update next time
Advanced Support EOT • Advanced HPC classes at various RP sites • PetaScale Fault Tolerance workshop at Albuquerque, March 19-20
