  3. Sustainability in general Definition: People are sustainable if they care about • social • economic • environmental aspects to make sure that future generations can have a good life.

  4. Interview with Louise Darnley 1. What does a sustainability manager have to do?  A: -fact finding -research -give presentations -communication between customers and other counterparties

  5. Interview 2. How do you make sure that the customers know that you work sustainably? A: -internet -communicate with them -brochures -labels -Metro post → advertisement

  6. Interview 3. How do you make sure that everybody at METRO Group works sustainably?  A: -visiting our partners  -testing their work 4. How do you know that there is no forced labour? A: -can’t be totally sure -but: we offer acceptable wages 5. How many people are working for the sustainability management in your company? A: -ten to twelve people fulltime are working in Germany +many engineers at METRO.

  12. Outcome • she was honest telling us that there are problems • she could answer questions comprehensibly • she gave us a lot of information about the sustainability strategy of METRO
