  1. “As For Me and My House…” August 30, 2008 Pastor Timothy J. Hinkle

  2. Joshua 24:14-16 (New King James Version) 14 “Now therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD! 15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” 16 So the people answered and said: “Far be it from us that we should forsake the LORD to serve other gods;

  3. God Gives Us Choices • Genesis 2:17 (New King James Version) • 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” • Genesis 4b—6 • The Lord was pleased with Abel and his offering. 5 But he wasn't pleased with Cain and his offering. So Cain became very angry. His face was sad. •  6 Then the Lord said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why are you looking so sad? 7 Do what is right. Then you will be accepted. If you don't do what is right, sin is waiting at your door to grab you. It longs to have you. But you must rule over it."

  4. God Gives Us Choices • Exodus 12:7  • 7 And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it. • Numbers 16:23—24, 31—33 • 23 So the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 24 “Speak to the congregation, saying, ‘Get away from the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.’” • 31 Now it came to pass, as he finished speaking all these words, that the ground split apart under them, 32 and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and all the men with Korah, with all their goods. 33 So they and all those with them went down alive into the pit; the earth closed over them, and they perished from among the assembly.

  5. God Gives Us Choices • Deuteronomy 30:19  • 19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; • John 3:16—17 • 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

  6. Will your house serve the Lord? • Are the Television shows you watch honoring to the Lord? • Is the speech in your home honoring to the Lord? • Do you honor the Lord in your finances? • Do you honor the Lord with your body? • Do you honor the Lord with your time? • Do you keep your home “holy as unto the Lord”?

  7. Keep Ungodly Things Out Of Your Home! • Deuteronomy 7:26 (New King James Version) • 26 Nor shall you bring an abomination into your house, lest you be doomed to destruction like it. You shall utterly detest it and utterly abhor it, for it is an accursed thing. • Deuteronomy 7:26 (New International Reader's Version) • 26 Don't bring anything he hates into your house. If you do, you will be completely destroyed along with it. So hate it with all your heart. It is set apart to be destroyed.
