  1. Orientation Welcome to University Studies and the University Academic Advising CenterElaine Matuszek, Associate Director

  2. Day-Two: Advising at the Math Emporium STUDENTS • 8:00 a.m. or 10:00 a.m. session has been randomly pre-assigned. Check time on your name tag. • Finalize fall semester class schedules with advisors. PARENTS with the DIRECTOR • Parent Info Session in Math Emporium. • Meet your student in the University Mall afterwards.

  4. University Studies/ UAAC We have something valuable to offer. • College, Major, Dean’s Office • Serve 3 Basic Student Populations • Academic Advisor – assigned after Orientation • 60 credits earned – must transfer out • Restricted majors

Restricted Majors College of Agriculture and Life Sciences: • Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise Pamplin College of Business: • All Majors EXCEPT Economics College of Engineering: • General Engineering (1st year program) and all Engineering majors, including Computer Science College of Architecture and Urban Studies: ALL “design” majors College of Liberal Arts & Human Sciences: • Communication • History • Music (audition req’d) • International Studies • Political Science

  12. Tomorrow, Students Should . . . • Be on time (check your name tag!) • Be awake! • Know your VT student ID number. (begins with “90...”) • Know your VT pid and password. • Bring a pen or pencil. • Begin to take ownership of your educational experience.

In August . . . • Keep checking your VT email account for University Studies advisor notification. • Check your on-line class schedule. • Meet with your advisor (group meetings) on Sunday afternoon before classes begin. • Make the first appointment with your advisor. • Begin your journey toward graduation.
