First, your “Odd Story of the Day” • A guy named Shechem, a Hivite, takes Dinah, a daughter of Jacob, and defiles her. • Then wants to marry her, him and his father ask Jacob. • Simeon and Levi (two of the older sons of Jacob) know about Dinah, told Shechem and his father, Hamor that they can have her if they get circumcised (to be in the covenant) • All the males in the city get circumcised, so they can share daughters and land with Jacob’s family • Gen 34:25 • Simeon and Levi kill all of the males • Take all of the women and children and animals • The End
