Major challenges • Accurate Image Navigation and Registration (INR) for two-satellite system on HEO orbit: • Variable altitude, spatial resolution, size of imaging area; • Steerable spacecraft (due to COMMS operations), attitude knowledge and control; • GCP ( Ground Control Points) matching in polar region is a challenge due to surface properties (snow/ice) and low sun elevation; • Low sun and polar night conditions – impact on product quality • Scene ID, clouds vs snow/ice; • Atmospheric correction: aerosol, water vapor, radiative transfer modeling; • Temperature inversions; • Limited sources of in-situ and ground measurements for validation in the Arctic
