  1. Multiple Literacies English 111Tommy Lee

  2. Here are just a few of my Literacies • A passion for all things music • (EDM) Electric Dance Music • Music Festivals

  3. MUSIC Music is something that has been a part of my life for quite some time now. It gets you through the ups and downs, takes you on an emotional roller coaster of sorts. I do not just stick to one genre I love anything that sounds good and achieves the mood it is trying to portray. To me it’s about more than liking something because your friends do or you were raised listening to it. I like to expand my horizons and always keep an open mind to new and old music. Bob Marley once said “One thing about music when it hits you feel no pain”. I live by that, music is a way to let go of the past or future and live in the present.

  4. Just some favorites Genres Artists • Deltron 3030 • Big Sean • Wu-tang Clan • GRiZ • Rx Bandits • Santana • Atmosphere • Claude Von Stroke • Justin Martin • Hip-Hop • Rap • Glitch-Hop • Ska • Classic Rock and Roll • Dubstep • Classic Hip Hop • House • Future Funk

  5. If I had to choose a favorite? It would be… EDM(Electronic Dance Music)

  6. Electronic Dance Music as of late has turned out to be one of the biggest movements since Woodstock. Millions of kids, young adults and heck even some of your parents are hoping on the band wagon of this new scene. It’s the kind of thing where people from all kinds of races, nationalities, ages and even parts of the world can come together for the one thing they all have in common… THE MUSIC EDM CONTINUED

  7. The many Types of electronic music • Electro house • House • Deep House • Minimal Techno • Dubstep • Break beats • Drum Step • Acid Crunk • Drum and bass • Hard style • Jungle • Moombahton • Trance • Glitch • Digital Hardcore • Groove step

  8. Music and Arts Festivals By definition a Music Festival is an entertainment event featuring a number of musicalperformers or bands ofa certain genre or centered on a theme. But in reality it is more than that. It is a gathering of creative minds from all over where people meet and converge for a common purpose. To share, communicate and learn from one another. It is based on a central theme dedicated to Arts and Music. And that alone is enough to bring hundreds of thousands of people to one place for one amazing weekend.

  9. Some of The many Music Festivals in the U.S. • Electric Forest: Rothbury, MI • Bonnaroo: Manchester, TN • Electric Daisy: Las Vegas, NV • DEMF: Detroit, MI • Ultra: Miami, FL • Northcoast: Chicago, IL

  10. Festivals I have attended Electric Forest 2011-2012------Summer Set 2012 Bonnaroo 2010

  11. Conclusion In conclusion it’s all about the music for me. Your supposed to live your life and chase what makes you happy. It’s because of the music I’ve listen to and the concerts I’ve attended that makes me who I am today. I hope to turn my education into a career for promoting and coordinating these amazing events. It’s a career based on passion and constantly evolving materials and followers. So let loose a bit go enjoy the world but make sure you do so listening to your favorite song. “A verbal art like poetry is reflective; it stops to think. Music is immediate, it goes on to become” W.H. Auden
