  2. Codominance & Multiple Alleles • Codominant Alleles – are genes in which both alleles from each parent are expressed equally, they are both dominant. • Multiple Alleles – are traits that are controlled by more than two alleles. • Example: ABO Blood Type genes.

  3. Multiple Alleles of Blood Typing • The alleles for blood typing are: IA, IB, and iO • The alleles IA and IB are equally dominant. • The alleles for iO are recessive.

  4. Antigen – foreign substances that stimulate an immune response in the body. For example: Type A blood has Antigen A on the surface of the red blood cells. Antibodies – Proteins in the blood plasma produced in a reaction to antigens that react with and disable antigens.
