  2. What is it? Basketball is a popular sport. There are five players on each team and each team tries to get the basketball in each other's nets. You play this game with a basketball which is a sphere coloured orange with black stripes. Basketball is most common in the USA. There are professional teams, college teams, high school, middle and even some elementary school teams. The main thing is to get the ball into the opposing team's hoop by dribbling and shooting with your hands. There a few different ways you can score. The first is to make a basket within the large that extends past the free throw line. Any shot in this range is worth 2 points. Any shot made outside of the large arc is worth 3 points. If you are fouled while shooting, you may go to the free throw line to earn back your points. Each free throw is worth one point. There are many rules to basketball, and some rules are added in each upcoming year. I paly this sport I train on Tuesday and I have the game on Saturday I play at a stadium but I don’t know where. I got interested in this sport by my mum forcing me to do it.

  3. Equipment needed For a proper game of basketball you need a court and a basketball, the right clothes to wear, people to play with, you need to know the rules, a hoop, the right shoes, and a good attitude.

  4. Skills required You need to run fast, jump high and know how to control the ball to look all around you.

  5. Types of basketballs Composite Balls: These types incorporate man-made (artificial) leather covering which are designed to reproduce exactly the same feel and features as those of genuine leather. The only difference between the two is that genuine leather gains softness with exposure, but the composite balls have the soft feel already. Leather Balls: These are made of pure leather and they get soft after being used for some time. These balls are recommended specifically for indoor use because of their nature. They also have to be “broken in” before they can attain the optimal grip for competitive play. Of all the types, they are also the most expensive. Rubber: The other type of material used in making balls for basketball is rubber. The good thing about rubber covering is that it is durable which makes it suitable for outdoor play. Besides that, it is also the least expensive. This reason makes it the ideal ball for beginners.

  6. recommendation People should play basketball because it gives you lots of energy and it is a great sport for the human mind. While you are young you should play basketball more often because your bones are more adapt to receive the exercise. You can still play it when you are getting of age but it is better to start at a young age so that your bones will/can already be used to it.

  8. Basketball history How long has it been around? Basketball has been around for 118 years. It was invented in 1891 by a physical education teacher, James Naismith. Basketball started out with two peach baskets attached to a ten foot railing and played with a soccer ball. Later in 1893 they introduced the iron hoops and the hammock type basket. Where did it originate? In the early 1890's James Naismith, a Canadian, invented basketball while teaching at Springfield College in Springfield Massachusetts. The first set of official rules were written in 1892, and players would shoot a volleyball into a wooden peach crate.
