Commissions @ your Chapter • Commissions add value to membership – there are 17 Commissions – something for every employee • Members can network and share with peers across the state • Commission membership is no extra charge and a great value compared to other professional associations (which can charge hundreds of dollars)

  3. Commission Structure • Each Commission has its own Board of Directors and bylaws • Each Commission Chair represents their members’ interests and legislative issues by serving on the Association’s Board of Directors • Each Commission has a Bank Account- procedures are published online and in the Leadership Manual

  4. Commission Activities • Members can join up to three Commissions – you can now view and change your Commission choices online • Commissions meet twice a year – at a Spring Conference and Convention – to present programs and showcase exemplary practices • Commissions have Websites, publish newsletters, and can share member news in Current

Commission Accountability • The Ad hoc Commission Vitality Committee created six Board approved guidelines for Commissions • Commissions that fail to meet minimum standards for two consecutive years are subject to a return to provisional status • Commissions are encouraged to seek help from the VP/VP-Elect for Commissions and the State office staff

Minimum Requirements At a minimum, Commissions should • Fill all established board positions. • Conduct a minimum of one board meeting not including the business meeting during the annual convention. This meeting can be conducted electronically, by phone or in person. • Host at least one career development conference/workshop in addition to the annual convention program. This meeting may be hosted individually or in conjunction with other commissions or entities of FACC i.e. Regions, Membership, etc. • Provide an exemplary practice award. The criteria and selection method to be determined by the bylaws and standing rules of the individual commission. • Establish a method of communication to all commission members. • Maintain a website under the commission page on the Statewide FACC website. (From the FACC Bylaws, Article VIII, Section 2)

The Power of Collaboration • All FACC groups should take advantage of free, Web 2.0 technology • Wikis are a great way for Commissions, Regions, and Chapters to document best practices, share ideas, and collaborate • View the FACC Commissions wiki at http://commissions.wikispaces.com/ (contact Bianca Rodriguez for assistance with wikis)

Free Virtual Meetings • Commission and Region Boards are required to meet during the year – in person or online • Elluminate and GoToMeetingare virtual meeting software • Interactive features – whiteboard, video, file transfer, live webcam • Contact the Florida Distance Learning Consortium for special Elluminate pricing • Elluminate also offers free access for 3

FACC Annual Calendar • Housed on the FACC Website, this calendar is updated frequently • Check it for meeting dates (Board of Director meetings, Region and Commission Conferences, FACC Professional Development Programs, and Exemplary Practice deadlines) • Commissions and Regions should submit conference dates to Tina Ingram at Tingramm@facc.org
