  2. The President’s Constitutional Powers • 1.) THE executive power is vested in him/her • 2.) Oath of office: Preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution(Lincoln’s interpretation) • 3.) Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces • 4.) “Requiring opinions” from his/her heads of executive officesThe Cabinet and its “dual masters” • 5.) Pardon power – ex. the Nixon Pardon
