"Partners in Care" is an initiative by the Maryland National Guard JFHQ State Chaplain’s Office aimed at coordinating support for soldiers and their families by partnering with local faith communities. This voluntary program promotes referrals to faith-based services without endorsing any particular religion, expanding available resources for those in need. Through signed memorandums of understanding, congregations offer assistance free of charge to all referred individuals, respecting their personal faith affiliations and promoting interfaith collaboration. PURPOSE • Coordinate support for warriors and families through partnerships with local faith communities. • Allow for referral for support to local faith communities without implied endorsement of a particular religion • Expand faith-based resources available for warrior and family support
KEY COMPONENTS • Inter-faith in composition • Voluntary • Memorandum of Understanding required • Support is provided free of charge • Each supports according to their ability • Assistance is offered equally to all referred regardless of religious affiliation
PROCESS CONCERNS • Referrals are made by UMT/RSTs, Units and Commanders, and Family Readiness personnel • Referral documentation is submitted to and maintained by the JFHQ State Chaplain’s Office • All are encouraged to first access their own faith community
