2. GRADE 12 REQUIRED COURSES • 1 required course • English • Plus any Group credits not yet completed • 7 optional courses

3. OSSD COMPULSORIES • Group 1: One additional credit in English, or French as a second language,** or a Native language, or a classical or an international language, or social sciences and the humanities, or Canadian and world studies, or guidance and career education, or cooperative education*** • Group 2: One additional credit in health and physical education, or the arts, or business studies, or French as a second language,** or cooperative education*** • Group 3: One additional credit in science (Grade 11 or 12), or technological education (Grades 9 – 12), or French as a second language,** or computer studies, or cooperative education***

4. OSSD • Maximum of 2 credits in Coop and 2 credits in French can count as compulsory credits • 40 hours of community service • Successful completion of the OSSLT or OSSLC

5. Secondary School completion in four years Students are encouraged to plan for four years of secondary education Boards will receive full funding for up to 34 credits per student Individual situations where more than 34 credits are required will be submitted to the superintendent Students on IEP are exempt

International Baccalaureate PreBacc (10) and IB courses (11 and 12) end with the letter ‘B’ Students must be registered in the IB Program to be enrolled in a PreBacc or IB course Students can register as Certificate Students taking IB Courses from a minimum of 4 areas plus TOK See school website under Student Services and International Baccalaureate

8. SHSM PROGRAMS • Plan for SHSM requirements including Co-op placement • Arts and Culture • 8 credit package including 4 Arts courses • Construction • 10 credit package including 4 Construction courses

9. MATH PATHWAYS • Selecting the right math course depends on what type of studies you plan on pursuing in post-secondary • MCR3U • Leads to MHF4U or MCV4U or MDM4U in Grade 12 • Required for programs like Engineering, Sciences, Business, Mathematics, Kinesiology, etc. • Must take MFH4U before OR at the same time as MCV4U

10. MATH PATHWAYS • MCF3M • Leads to MDM4U in Grade 12 • Required for specific programs in Social Sciences • Or • Leads to MCT4C – required for college health and technology programs

11. MATH PATHWAYS • MBF3C1 • Leads to MAP4C1 - required for some college programs. Please check the specific requirements. • MEL3E to MEL4E • Mathematics for everyday life

13. Where will the jobs be? The Ontario ministry of colleges and skills training predicts job growth will be strong in health care (including doctors and nurses), information technology (such as software engineers and information systems analysts), and other trades and services (including plumbers, electricians, child-care workers and dental hygienists).

14. Where will the jobs be? Job-seekers with college or apprenticeship training are expected to get 35 per cent of the new jobs, followed by university graduates, at 26 per cent.

15. Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program OYAP Allows students to earn their high school diploma while participating in paid, on-the-job skilled trades training Grade 12 Complete any compulsory or elective credits, plus a full day Co-op placement

16. Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program • For students who like to learn by doing • Signed apprentice= Paid employment + four credits + apprenticeship hours • Over 130 careers • Early childhood educator, chef, carpenter, electrician, hairstylist etc

17. Dual Credit Programs OYAP Credits earned count for both OSSD and level one apprenticeship.
