  1. How to Reduce Vending Machine Theft and Vandalism?

  2. At some point or the other, a vending machine owner may face the damages incurred by the vandals and thieves who have damaged or broken into their Rowe vending machine. The owner may notice the inventory being missing or the machine destroyed and money stolen. Due to such acts the owner would face loss of inventory and property, including costs of repair and replacements of inventory. Here are a few steps that vending machine owner may follow in order to curb such vandalism and thefts.

  3. Build relationships Most vending machines owners fail to realize the power of building simple relationships. Instead of just visiting the vending machine to just restock or service the machine, one can take some time to chat with the surrounding people who work there or visit the place often. Ask the people who purchase from your healthy vending snacks machine, about the products they prefer and build a rapport. When people feel connection with you, they will be more likely to protect the machine.

  4. Also, placing the vending machine inside a shop or a mall can provide some protection. A vending machine that is placed outside may surely reap a greater profit with higher sales, but there will always be a risk of vandalism and theft.

  5. Install Alarm System Alarm systems for vending machines can be quite costly and that probably a reason why many vending machine owners do not prefer installing one. However, if you feel that vandalism and thefts are costing you a lot, then one must consider this effective theft and vandalism deterrent. With improving technology, an older alarm system can be secured for a much lower price than what it would have costed years back. An average quality alarm system may cost you somewhere between $80 and $100, which can be easily installed with just a moderate knowledge of operating it.

  6. Warning signs and stickers If you that installing an alarm system is not feasible for your system, you can still deter thieves and vandals by putting up warning signs and signals to deter the vandals. A large orange or yellow sign with a bold print works best, as follows:

  7. “Alarm system active” • “Movement will set off the alarm” • “Coins and cash are removed daily!”

  8. Install vending machine cage A vending machine cage is an effective deterrent for vandals and thieves, however, it may also impact the sales negatively as people would not quite feel welcomed to make purchases from such machines. It is advised to use cages in places where the vending machine stays inactive a part of the time. These vending machine cages come quite expensive so you need to consider its feasibility to your business and if the profit can cover up for the cost.

  9. Install a security camera If you feel like your vending machine needs an extra layer of protection, then considering security camera to be installed will be a good idea. You would require the permission of the property owner for this, as the camera will be hooked to their property.
