  4. Initiative Don’t wait for opportunity • See a need, fill a need • Look for learning points • Do things because it’s right • Intrinsic motivation Intrinsic. Extrinsic

  5. Learn Always Look for Something New • Master the fundamentals • Learn your job, not what you want to do • Plan your learning career, where is your organization going • What are your interests and goals? Perspective. Purpose

  6. Responsibility It’s all you • Your going to make mistakes, own them • Follow assignments with vigor • If you see it, it’s yours, don’t leave it • Be honest Trust. Value

  7. Set the Example Be the Informal Leader • The hard choices are you forte • Become the one they want to come to, from both sides • Be humble and patient • Work hard Team

Two Questions Be able to answer these without hesitation for your entire career Promotional question #1 Promotional question #2 • What have you done in the last six months to improve yourself and the department? The lesser of importance between the two questions • What have you done in the last 3-5 years to improve yourself and the department? This is the important question and the one that counts! Be ready for it!
