  2. Step 1 • Measure and roll out fondant • Working from the inside-out • Make sure the fondant is even in thickness

  3. Step 2 • Smooth fondant over cake • Make sure there is no air bubbles • Use Pure Icing sugar to smooth the fondant • Cut any excess from around the cake

  4. Step 3 How to make Roses • Bend wire with pliers • Tint fondant with a food • colouring of your choice • Mould a tear drop shape • Gently push onto bent wire, this will make the centre or bud for the rose

  5. Step 4 • Roll out tinted fondant evenly • Cut petal shapes out of fondant • Roll and thin edges to give a realistic rose petal look • Place and roll around the bud centre

  6. Step 5 • Make the bud of the rose by rolling around the fondant • Roll out and flatten a cut out petal • Soften and make the edges thin and wavy • Make an indentation to go around the bud

  7. Step 6 • The rose will start to take shape as the petals are added • Make more petals as the previous steps show • Work around the rose for a realistic look • Build up the size by adding more petals • Make the size of the petals bigger if you want a full bloomed rose

  8. Step 7 • When the rose is the right size • Cut off excess fondant around the base of the flower • Smooth so it blends around the wire • Make one last larger petal • Attach to the base, this gives a realistic look to the rose

  9. Step 8 • Tint white fondant green • Roll into a ball • Roll the fondant to the correct thickness • Cut out a shape to resemble the green of the bud • Put the wire in the centre and slide up until under the rose

  10. Presentation • Make a royal icing mixture to attach roses • Place roses in a bunch for the best effect
