  1. Croeso i cwrdd âBlwyddyn 3, 4 & 5Welcome to Year 3, 4 & 5 meeting

  2. Organising the Learning • Year 3, 4 & 5 • Following on from the Philosophy of the Foundation Phase, children are no longer grouped in sets. This results in a more flexible type of learning • Y3 and 4 will be organising independent tasks in the afternoon called ‘missions’. These activities are designed to improve and develop their thinking skills and independence. • TAs assist within the class whilst other teaching staff are also used to deliver intervention programmes to children needing more specific support. • Smaller groups ensure the children with the greatest needs receive the support they need in order to succeed.

  3. Children’s Planners • Home School Agreement and other consent. (Please ensure that these are signed) • Targets • Spelling and Reading Homework • Logins- Hwb, mymaths.com and readingeggs.com • Notes for teacher – Urgent messages in a letter/ school contacted by phone/e-mail • End of day arrangements- Please notify school regarding bus etc • Doctors and Dentists appointments where possible not in school time.

  4. Learning at home Expected: • English/Topic homework is given on Monday and should be handed in on Friday. • The homework could be set either digitally or to be recorded in the book. • Spellings are given on Monday and a test is carried out on Friday. • Maths homework is given on Friday and should be handed in on Monday.

  5. Learning at home continued... • Children should be reading at home 3 times a week or more. They can read their school book or a book of their choice. It is important to question your child and discuss what they have just read to ensure understanding. • Please check the homework box in the home/school diary to see the tasks. • If homework is not handed in three times in a row, you will be contacted.

  6. Extras (further learning) Extras (Further learning): • Time tables rock stars. • Reading eggs. • My Maths. • HWB – J2E, Office 365.

  7. Reading • Guided Reading • Individual Reading once a week • Home Reading- minimum 3 times a week • Reading Behaviours- access text in different ways using different skills and strategies.

  8. PE • Kit list can be found in the Planners • Y3O -Wednesday pm • Y3GM -Wednesday pm • Y4E and Y4P – Thursday am • Y5T and Y5A – Monday am

  9. Reminders • Attendance/Punctuality • Fruit-20p a day, water • Uniform & PE kit- labelled • Money (envelope clearly labelled with name, class and amount) • Medication- forms from office/website • Asthma pumps and Epi-pens – in date • Check hair regularly • Update personal information- mobile numbers e.g. Text messages • Newsletter- sign up

  10. Llangrannog • The Y4 residential is to Llangrannog from 03/06/19 to 05/06/19. • We will hold a separate meeting for this. • Payment plans and further information will be given in that meeting. • You will be notified by text of the meeting date.

  11. Disneyland Paris • Mrs Appleby will deliver more information when she returns to school.

  12. National Tests • The tests will be carried out in May 2018. • Please avoid taking your child out of school on these days.

  13. We are confident your child will enjoy their year in Year 3, 4 or 5. However... Please no social media! If any problems arise we will do our best to try to sort them out. Please let us know as and when any difficulties arise otherwise it is very difficult for us to help and support you and your children.
