Back to School Night • Essential Questions • What instructional components will be present in our rigorous 4th grade curriculum? • How can we work together to benefit all students? • We believe that all children can be successful. Our goal is to ensure that all students are taught with the proper materials and at a pace that is challenging to each pupil that helps develop their unique talents and strengths.

Communication • Questions: • Email your homeroom teacher or write a note • Call and leave a message • Emergencies or Change of Arrival/Dismissal: • Call the office (Office staff will notify homeroom teacher) • Communication Folder: • Graded work will be sent home on THURSDAYS (unless there is a • holiday – next school day or following week). • PTA information will be given to students on WEDNESDAYS. • Agendas: • Students will record their homework. • Students will record their PBIS color if they had a color change. • Please check and initial daily. • Grade Level Updates & Curriculum: • School Website • PYP Newsletters • Fourth Grade Team Website

PBIS Go for the Green 1st time- warning  2nd time – yellow: reflection write up and conference with teacher  3rd time – red: minimum of 10 minute classroom time out, reflection write up, and conference with teacher  If behaviors continue on a single day despite interventions listed above, a parent teacher conference is required. 3 reds in a week results in an office referral

Homework Expectations • 40 minutes nightly (This does not include the 25-30 minutes of reading per night.) • Let your child attempt independently • Provide a quiet work space • Math nightly • Daily reading log (+one weekend read) due every Monday • 2 week spelling sort cycle • Homework counts towards the learning skills grade and will be checked weekly. • DEM = Demonstrating PRG = Progressing N = Not Yet Evident • Incomplete, late, and work that is not turned in will be reflected in the learning • skills grade

Math -Place value patterns in multi-digit whole numbers -Addition and Subtraction of multi-digit whole numbers using variety of strategies -Multiplication and Division of multi-digit whole numbers, including modeling -Patterns with numbers and shapes -Multiplicative and additive comparison -Fractions and decimals -Measurement -Perimeter and Area -Angles -Points, lines, line segments, and rays
