  1. Industrial Vision System 2003. 7. 3. MAI lab

MAI lab seminar

  3. Why Machine Vision? • Traditionally, visual inspection and quality control are performed by human experts • humans are slower than the machines and get tired quickly • Experts are difficult to find or maintain MAI lab seminar

MAI lab seminar

Malamasa, Michalis Zervakisa, Laurent Petetb, Jean-Didier Legatb a Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, Technical University of Crete, Chania, Crete 73100, Greece b Microelectronics Laboratory, Universite Catholique de Louven, Louven-La-Neuve, Belgium

  6. Contents • Introduction • Classification of industrial vision applications • Development of industrial vision systems • Future directions • Conclusions MAI lab seminar

  7. Introduction Typical industrial vision system • 구성 : Camera, Image processing Hardware, Image processing Hardware (Main processor) • Result : Control a manu-facturing process,Propagate to otherexternal devices,Characterize defects MAI lab seminar

  8. Introduction Construction • Reliability, robustness, flexibility, efficiency, speed, cost 등 고려 필요 Raw Image Image acquisition Image processing Decision-making Feature extraction Top-down Bottom-up MAI lab seminar

  9. Introduction Development approaches • Understanding the application’s requirements and constraints • Simple to operate and maintain • Fast enough to meet the speed requirements of their application environment • Degrees of Freedom(DoFs) MAI lab seminar

  10. Classification of industrial vision applications Classification • Inspection of dimensional quality • Inspection of surface quality • Inspection of correct assembling (structural quality) • Inspection of accurate or correct operation (operational quality) MAI lab seminar

  11. Development of industrial vision system Development (1) • Standard platform component • C, C++, Java • User friendly Interface • GUI, Window format • Powerful Sensor MAI lab seminar

  12. Development of industrial vision system Development (2) • Current trend • Use commercial products instead of customized(Multi-processing level support, Ease of manipulation,Dynamic rage and frame-rate support, Expandability, Dedicated hardware support) • Software tool (Image processing and analysis) • Neural networks(NN), fuzzy logic, Genetic Algorithm(GA) MAI lab seminar

  13. Development of industrial vision system Development (3) • Hardware tool • Application specific intergrated circuits(ASIC) • Digital signal processors(DSP) • General Purpose processors(MMS, AMD, PowerPC) • Field programmable gate arrays(FPGA) • Neural, fuzzy, anc neuro-fuzzy hardware systems MAI lab seminar

  14. Future directions Software and Hardware • Fast and Cheap (Cost-effective) • Flexible (For competition) • Multiporpose hardware and mainstream OS • UNIX, Windows NT • For heavy-duty & real time application • single machine이 처리하지 못하므로 여러 시스템을 parallel로사용 MAI lab seminar

• 경비, 시간 절약 • Model-based solution • CAD-based vision systems MAI lab seminar

MAI lab seminar

MAI lab seminar

  18. Future directions Conclusion • Developing Machine Vision system • Requirements – Cost • Flexibility – Speed • Future direction of Vision system MAI lab seminar
