Consecutive Integer

Consecutive Integer. Consecutive Integer. Ex. Find two consecutive integers whose sum is 13 We can mentally do this one b/c its low we would go: 1+2, 2+3, 3+4, 4+5, etc. Until we got the 2 number 6+7 But there is another way especially with larger numbers. Consec . Integers.

  1. Consecutive Integer

  2. Consecutive Integer • Ex. Find two consecutive integers whose sum is 13 • We can mentally do this one b/c its low we would go: • 1+2, 2+3, 3+4, 4+5, etc. • Until we got the 2 number 6+7 • But there is another way especially with larger numbers

  3. Consec. Integers • Let’s find 2 consecutive integers whose sum is 97 • Let’s begin • 1st number + 2nd number = 97 • So we have 2 numbers • 1st number – n • How do get to the next number • In other words if the first number was 2 the next number would be? • 3 • How did u get that? • 2nd number – n+1

  4. Consec. Integers • Find 2 consec. Integers whose sum is 97 • 1st number + 2nd number = 97 • N + (N+1) = 97 • 2n + 1 = 97 • - 1 -1 • 2n = 96 • n = 48 • First number is 48 so the next number is 48 + 1 = 49 • 48 and 49 are the consecutive integers

  5. Consecutive Integer • Find the 2 consec. Integers whose sum is 57 • Find 2 consecutive integers whose sum is -41

  6. Consecutive Integer • Well we have consecutive what about consecutive even (-2,0,2,4) and odds (-1, 1, 3, etc.) • How do you go from one odd or even number to the next consecutive odd or even. • 1 to 3 56 to 58 • Right you added 2 every time so it’s different how: • First number + second number • n (n+2)

  7. Consecutive Integer • Find 2 consecutive odd integers whose sum is 36 • First number + second number = 36 N + (N+2) = 36 2n + 2 = 36 - 2 -2 2n = 34 n = 17 So 17 first number the next odd integer 17 + 2 = 19 17 and 19 or the consecutive odd integers

  8. Consecutive Integers • Find 2 consecutive even integers whose sum is -88

  9. Consecutive Integer • Let’s play a little game
