This project focuses on mechanizing the extraction of butter from Pentadesma butyracea seeds, a vital resource in Benin and other parts of West Africa. By minimizing the manual labor traditionally performed by women, we aim to improve efficiency and reduce contamination in the extraction process. Our team developed an optimized screw press design, consolidating steps and making the process more time-saving. The resulting improvements will enhance the economic prospects of communities relying on this valuable product for cosmetics and food.
