Objectives of the Meeting • To share information on FMD circulating within the NENA countries • To review the progress of countries along the regional roadmap, present- 2022 • To assist countries preparing national control plans, project proposals for increased investment on FMD control and submission to OIE for program endorsement

  3. Roadmap Review Process • Step 1: countries sending the questionnaires to self-assess their respective status in relation to PCP-FMD stages • Step 2: a provisional roadmap being designed according to countries’ self-assessment

  4. Roadmap Review Process, Cont’d • Step 3: countries’ presentations to provide evidence and support their self-assessment for being qualified at the claimed stage • Step 4: to conduct individual interviews with countries’ representatives to discuss specific issues

Roadmap Review Process, Cont’d • Step 5: Regional Advisory Group (RAG) to review questionnaires, countries’ presentations and outcomes of individual interviews to assess consistency between the self-assessment process and the data presented • Step 6: to review (eventually) the regional roadmap based on the outcomes of steps 3, 4 and 5 and presented at the end of the meeting

Regional Advisory GroupComposition • Voting Members: • Three CVOs from the Region (including a chairperson) and nomination by countries in the region • Leader of the FMD regional epidemiology network • Leader of the FMD regional laboratory network • Non-voting Members: • Representatives from the GF-TADs FMD WG (FAO and OIE) • Two representative form regional/sub-regional FAO and OIE offices • PCP and PVS experts • A representative from a regional organization Terms: Three years

Regional Advisory GroupResponsibilities • To review self and external assessment of the PCP stages at the roadmap meeting • To guide FMD training and capacity development activities to support regional and national strategies • To provide advice on the status of PCP assessments including the analysis of PVS evaluations for Critical Competencies

Regional Advisory GroupResponsibilities • To support technical review and implementation of national risk-based strategic control plans • To advise on issues or factors preventing effective progress of the FMD roadmap • To support countries in the preparation of applications to OIE for endorsement of their FMD national control strategy , if requested

  11. PCP status of countries • Regional roadmap meetings held in 2013 but without formal PCP stage assessments - provided to OIE and FAO regional offices • For countries that have not submitted their questionnaire their PCP status is indicated to be the same as the one indicated in 2012
