This study examines the refinement of synaptic connections in the context of developing and regenerating ocular dominance columns. It highlights the decreased convergence and divergence of synaptic inputs during these processes. Particularly, it focuses on the role of retraction bulb activity-mediated signals in segregating axonal inputs after the closure of one eye. This research provides insights into the neural plasticity underlying normal binocular input and the mechanisms that guide synaptic refinement during critical periods of development and following injury.
