  1. Man Made Diamonds - Myths Vs Reality This article throws light upon the facts and myths about these diamonds. Now, its upon you to choose which one would be your pick. There are several myths associated with these and it is believed that the real diamond companies tend to spread these in order to bring the value of a unique lab grown diamond. These diamonds prove to be a great threat to their earnings and to deal with the threat they face, these rumours are spread. In this article, let’s look at which of these are facts and which are mere myths. Unique lab grown diamonds are manufactured in factories and are often known as synthetic diamonds. One thing to remember that calling these synthetic diamonds is incorrect as no process of synthesis is used to create them. They’re only created with carbon. These come into being by replicating the processes that take place inside the Earth by advanced machinery in specialised labs. This also earns them the name of ‘lab grown diamonds. Lab grown diamonds have a different environmental impact than mined diamonds This is true and the impact of manmade diamonds on the environment is much lesser than the mined diamonds due to easy accessibility, lesser amounts of water usage and air pollution that is otherwise caused by mining. It was found that mining a 1.0 carat diamond needs approximately 1750 tonnes of land to be extracted and 480 litres of water per carat. A cvd diamond needs 7 times lesser water, i.e. 70 litres per carat. Coming to the air pollution aspect, mined diamonds result in 37,000 grams per carat of carbon emission where as the same size of a manmade diamond emits only 0.028 grams of carbon. A CVD Diamond is not a real diamond Another myth that seems to be spread by the mined diamond mafia is that unique lab grown diamonds are not real. The truth is that these are as real as the natural diamonds for they too come into being by exposing carbon to high temperatures and immense pressure. The only difference is that their nemesis is made naturally inside the earth’s surfaced and they’re produced in specialised laboratories. Impurities, if present in both these variants

  2. can have them test negative as a diamond which means that they both have the same characteristics. Lab grown diamonds are as hard as natural diamonds Finally, a solid fact. Just as their counter parts, manmade diamonds are equally hard. Diamonds rank 10 on the hardness scale, which is the highest, making them the hardest substance on our planet. They’re strong and durable. Now you all can heave a sigh of relief for these are fit to be passed on to your future generations. Lab grown diamonds get cloudy Just like natural diamonds, unique lab grown diamonds do not cloud over time. Their durable and crystalline structure make them hard and prevent clouding. What may happen is that their could be a film that builds around the diamond if it isn’t looked after properly, but this is not worrisome. This can be easily cleaned with warm water and soap. So we do have a clear winner on the environmental front. Natural diamonds are found deep inside the Earth’s crust and need to be mined. These come into existence by the extreme temperatures and immense pressure that persists underneath and holds the ability to convert diamonds. These then need to be mined to bring them to the surface.
