  2. Using Real Life Stories Christian Testimony books and testimonies has taken our witnessing to the next level I was born in a Southern Christian Methodist home. My life as a child was wonderful and joyous for a southern black girl. My parents were African Methodist Episcopal. However, my mother’s foundation was Pentecostal from the Church of God in Christ. I led a very sheltered life as a child and teenager. Even in my youth, I knew that God was in control. However, I did not choose to follow Him in my teenage and young adult life. I married my childhood sweetheart after high school and chose to go the way of the world. I endured a five year marriage that was PURE HELL. The marriage produced one child, the joy of my life, and five years of abuse and disappointment for me. After my father’s death in May of 1977, I decided to leave the marriage because I did not want my child to be raised in an abusive home. I was very much aware that I had chosen a life without God and that I had left my values and foundation. Not only did I know I had made a wrong decision in marriage, but I made that decision against my father’s wishes. After separating from my husband, my child and I moved into a home with my brother and sister-in-law. In making this move, I decided to attend the church my brother and his wife were attending. Two months after moving in with them, the Lord saved me and completely changed my life. He first healed the hurt and disappointment of a horrendous marriage. He opened the door to employment for the first time in my life. He allowed me to finish my Undergraduate and Graduate Degree without any student loans. He allowed me to raise my child in the city of Chicago without him becoming involved in gangs or drugs. After all He did for me, I can say that receiving Jesus as my Savior was the best thing that I could ever imagine for myself. I have experienced many manifestations of the healing power of God: He has healed me of chronic sore-throat, severe allergy problems, and high blood pressure.

  3. In the fall of 2008, I experienced the power of God in an extraordinary manner. In October, I visited my doctor’s office because I was weak in my body and was not feeling well. I wasn’t able to eat or drink. I was admitted to the hospital from my doctors’ office. At the time of admittance, I could not stand, and my speech had become slurred. The hospital ran many tests before it was discovered that I was severely dehydrated. During my hospital stay I was pumped with sixty pounds of fluid. I began therapy to strengthen my muscles and allow me to walk and do normal tasks again. After three weeks in the hospital, I was release to my home with in-home therapy. The journey to recovery was short lived, and I was back in the hospital within two weeks. Upon my return to the hospital, I was unable to stand or walk. There were many tests performed including an MRI, CAT-Scan, and spinal-tap. I had sessions with several different specialists. My hospital stay was about two months, including three weeks in rehabilitation. I was sent home the second day of the following year in an ambulance, with the dining room of my home set up as a hospital room. I had spent almost three months in a hospital room and came home not able to stand, walk, roll over, or sit upon my own strength. I came home without receiving a diagnosis or the doctors having any idea as to what happened to cause my physical body to be in the condition it was in. I was released to the care of my husband not able to do anything but pray. I was placed in the hospital bed in my home and did not take any steps for six months. During my recovery, my family was with me constantly. They took shifts and stayed with me while my husband worked. When my husband came home from work and on weekends we would pray together, read and discuss scripture, and strengthen ourselves with the Word of God. I spent my days finding and writing down every scripture in the bible regarding healing and strength. On Saturday, my Christian friends visited our home and held worship services. It was very clear that medical science was not the source of my healing. My faith in the Word of God was the answer to my health issues.

  4. During this time, I never wavered in my faith. I knew God would raise me up. Within one month, I could sit up in bed. Within two months, I could roll over. Within four months, I could sit on the side of my bed. Within six months, I took my first steps. I knew that God was going to complete the work He had begun in me. After nine months, I was blessed beyond measure. Today, I’m walking and giving God all the praise for healing and health. Thirty-five years of salvation has provided me with an abundant life that is far above all that I could ask or think. Without any doubt, I know that God will restore your loss a thousand times more. Ten years after my birth in Christ, God blessed me to marry the man He had for me. He gave me a saved spouse, an anointed spouse, and a blessed spouse. Most importantly, He gave me a spouse that loves God above all and loves me the way the scripture says he should. Today in ministry and in my natural life, I’m blessed beyond measure.
