  2. Research Questions • Is cognitive ability related to whether someone will become self-employed? • Is cognitive ability positively related to venture survival and success/growth (as measured by financial performance or number of employees of a business venture)?

  3. Research Questions • Core self evaluations (CSE) – Defined as fundamental premises that individuals hold about themselves and their functioning in the world. CSE is indicated by four lower order personality traits- self-esteem, generalized self-efficacy, emotional stability, and locus of control. • Are CSE positively related to venture growth? • Do CSE moderate the effects of higher intelligence on new venture growth, such that the effects of intelligence are stronger for those high in CSE than for those low in CSE?
