  1. 2014-2015 Election Candidates

  2. President-Elect Candidates

  3. I became aware of the efforts of APhA pursuing a more active role in health care after the MRM this past semester. It inspired me to want to contribute by becoming a part of the organization as more than simply a member, but as a leader. I hope to support this cause and stand as a representative to Creighton’s chapter. There are different opportunities to voice our opinions as a chapter and encouraging this would contribute to the organization’s mission. I think this is an excellent opportunity to step up and be a part of something bigger, outside of the pharmacy program as a curriculum, and to become a part of the efforts to do more by and for our profession to be seen as more than dispensers of medication to patients. Noe LugoRunning for President-Elect and VP of Policy

  4. My passion for running for APhA President-Elect originates from the following reasons: (1) My aspiration to make a positive change for Creighton pharmacy students; and (2) The desire to serve as a leader and advocate for my fellow students. My understanding of leadership involves the service to my pharmacy colleagues, the belief in the importance of teamwork, and the humility to accommodate criticism and continuously self-evaluate. I have developed this leadership philosophy while serving as the president of the Muslim Students Association (MSA) at Creighton for 2 years as well as serving in a variety of positions with the International Student Association and Biology Club. I strive to continuously learn ways to become a better leader and give back to my fellow students. Thus, I could not think of a more suitable environment to carry over and further develop my leadership skills, and to foster my learning than serving as APhA President-Elect. Jamal JamilRunning for President-Elect

  5. I am running because I believe I have the knowledge, experience, and motivation to be a great addition to the executive team of APhA-ASP. I am currently a P1 and enjoying Creighton and pharmacy school thus far. I graduated from the University of Portland in Oregon with a B.S. in Biochemistry and a minor in Biology. I was the Secretary for my high school student government both my junior and senior years, as well as the Treasurer for my high school chapter of the National Honor Society. I was also on the executive board for the Hawaii Club at UP and a chair for the largest student-run event held at UP. I hope you vote for me so I can be a part of this executive team. Jeannie KinoshitaRunning for VP of Communications, VP of Finance, and President-Elect (P1)

  6. I would like to be a president-elect to lead fellow pharmacy student to better environment. For example, to introduce information from the APhA, and to be a resource for every students who may need aid to get closer to their goal. I also want to be a devout pharmacist student that meet real-time pharmacists and learn more of current issue in pharmacy world. Many of my classmates have many different thoughts, however, it is crucial for them to know the reality of pharmacy. I want to be the resource for our community to provide the reality of pharmacy. Joon JungRunning for President-Elect

  7. I am running for president elect because I want to be more involved with APhA-ASP and I am a leader at heart.I feel I can represent the P1 class well and would like to be able to represent all pharmacy students as APhA president one day. Brad RoggenbachRunning for President-Elect

  8. VP of Chapter Affairs Candidates

  9. The reason that I am running for the position of Vice President of Chapter Affairs is because I want to become more involved with our APhA chapter. During my P1 year I was able to volunteer through Generation Rx to do medication take back and Katy’s Kids to help educate kids on the dangers of prescription drugs. This year I have been able to participate in multiple flu clinics through Operation Immunizations as well as be a volunteer member on the Operation Heart and Operation Diabetes committees. Through these actions, I have familiarized myself with the committees that APhA has to offer. I have also talked to Paul Chin, the current vice president, about the responsibilities associated with this position. My communication skills will be useful in all of the communications from the committees to the executive team and from PHPSG back to the chapter. I plan to help the committees sustain their current projects as well as plan new activities for both campus and distance students. Brian DalkeRunning for VP of Chapter Affairs and VP of Finance (P2)

  10. As a first year pharmacy student, I am looking to be more involved in my profession. The position of Vice President of Chapter Affairs will give me the opportunity to engage with my peers, as well as strengthen my leadership skills. My goal to obtain a residency after graduation motivates me to challenge myself. Being Vice President of Chapter Affairs will allow me to work alongside my peers, gain better communication skills and advance in my pharmacy profession. Although the position takes time and responsibility, I know my abilities in time management and organization will allow me to fulfill this duty. Tina ChovRunning for VP of Chapter Affairs and VP of Communications (P1)

  11. I am running for Vice President of Chapter Affairs for several reasons. For one, I would like to be more involved in APhA. Second, and more importantly, I would be good at overseeing the committees for APhA and delegating tasks, ensuring that each committee completes those tasks. I want to hold committee members accountable for what they should be doing, while at the same time make certain that the committees’ projects are successful. Lastly, I think my communication skills would be very beneficial to this position. I would be able to successfully collaborate with the entire chapter when it comes to things such as the Chapter Achievement Award Report. I also believe that I could communicate with anyone involved in the State, Regional, and National levels of APhA when necessary regarding the operations of APhA and APhA-ASP. Megan RobinsonRunning for VP of Chapter Affairs and VP of Membership (P1)

  12. I am running for this position in order to continue to show support for APhA. Throughout the time I have been a member, I have devoted time to the fundraising committee. As I continue my membership I would like to continue to aide in the development of this chapter. This position would be a good fit for me as I am already familiar with the organization, and will be helpful to those in it and those who would like to be part of the chapter. Dallin DaraisRunning for VP of Membership (Campus), VP of Communications, and VP of Chapter Affairs (P2)

  13. VP of Finance Candidates

  14. I am running for Vice President of Finance because I feel like I exemplify the qualities and have the experience to make a positive impact on this organization. During my undergrad, I served as the Pre-Pharmacy Club Treasurer so I am familiar with what the role of treasurer entails. I am currently one of the fundraising chairs of Kappa Psi Fraternity where I have gained even more knowledge about the roles similar to that of a VP of Finance. I am an organized, team player who would be excited and determined to serve you all well as your VP of Finance for APhA-ASP. Christy MarchiandoRunning for VP of Finance (P2)

  15. I have extensive experience with being treasurer many times for student organizations. One of my two Bachelors of Pharmaceutical Science is in Pharmacy Management, which required me to learn accounting and finance. As a result, I earned a minor in Business and Economics. During my last year at Pharmacy Counter, a local drugstore in Ohio, I managed the formulary; I saved the company $1.5 million a year and helped the company to continue serving the underprivileged in the area. I used to manage my own business, which I sold upon getting into pharmacy school at Creighton. Anna RooneyRunning for VP of Finance (P2)

  16. The reason that I am running for the position of Vice President of Chapter Affairs is because I want to become more involved with our APhA chapter. 18. VP of Communications Candidates

  19. Jeannie KinoshitaRunning for VP of Communications, VP of Finance, and President-Elect (P1)

  20. I am running for the position of Vice President of Communications because I have a strong set of organizational skills. I believe the qualities necessary to fulfill this position include dedication, diligence and attention to detail. I am interested in this position because I want to become a valuable asset to all the members in APhA, and I know that my strengths fit well with the responsibilities of this position. If I were elected to become Vice President of Communications, I am confident that I would accurately and clearly relay all important information to APhA members and officers in a timely manner. One of my greatest strengths is the ability to take a large amount of information and organize it into a clear and concise manner for the appropriate audience. I would love the opportunity to help each one of you individually; I know that can be accomplished by providing the information you need in order to enhance your involvement in the pharmacy field. Kathleen CalkinsRunning for VP of Communications (P1)

  21. Campus VP of Membership Candidates

  22. I am running for VP of Membership because I feel I have many qualities that would make me successful in this position. My organizational skills along with my enthusiastic attitude are two assets that I believe this position can benefit from. I am also very easy-going and enjoy talking and getting to know people which will be essential when recruiting new members, communicating with other executive members, and organizing fall and spring campaigns! Ali DwyerRunning for Campus VP of Membership (P1)

  23. I would like to take the opportunity, if elected, to reach out to a broad audience of Pharmacy School students and bring them together as motivated members of the APhA and aspiring professionals. This year, in addition to being a first-year pharmacy school student, I serve as a Resident Adviser (RA) with the Creighton University Department of Resident Life. As such, I serve as a leader and role model for a floor of fifty undergraduate men in addition to organizing social and developmental programs, upholding the university’s standards, and delegating appropriate courses of action for residents’ conduct (both good and bad) with my fellow resident advisors. Taking my experiences with Pharmacy School and Residence Life into account, I feel that I would be a beneficial addition to the Executive Board of the APhA-ASP as Vice President of Membership. Michael KaminskiRunning for Campus VP of Membership (P1)

  24. Distance VP of Membership Candidates

  25. I would like to serve as the Vice President of Membership for the distance students because I want to increase the ability of distance students to participate in APhA-ASP. I would not only like to make it easier for distance students to connect with their local APhA-ASP chapters but to engage in activities through the Creighton Chapter as well. Right now, I feel that it is very difficult to participate in organization activities as a distance student. I would like to see the distance students engage in some of the APhA-ASP programs such as Operations Heart, Diabetes, Immunization and SelfCare as well as Katy’s Kids. I think it would be amazing to have a nationwide chapter volunteer activity one day each year- we are the only chapter that has this potential, let’s use it! Bethany AbrahamsRunning for Distance VP of Membership (P1)

  26. I feel that even though we are distance students being a part of organizations on campus can be difficult, I feel that it is an essential part of our education. Being a member of this organization provides a great opportunity to get to know and form relationships with not only students and faculty within Creighton, but to network with other professionals in the field. Being a member of APhA-ASP also provides us with tools to get involved in our communities. This past year I was the membership coordinator for the distance cohort and enjoyed the interactions with fellow students. I understand the demands of this position and I would really enjoy continuing that role as the VP of Membership. Andrea LarsonRunning for Distance VP of Membership (P2)

  27. I have a strong desire to get more involved in AphA-ASP. As a distance student, I feel we are sometimes forgotten about or left out and I would be honored to represent our distance position more actively. I look forward to learning more about the organization and finding opportunities to get more involved and meet more members. I am currently president of the 2017 distance class and know what it means to take responsibility for a position like this. I am extremely reliable and easy to get ahold of. I am also very organized and do not have a hard time staying on top of many responsibilities at the same time. Additionally, I think I am fair and do a great job of involving everyone equally. Diantha GonzalesRunning for Distance VP of Membership (P1)

  28. I would like to be a part of APhA-ASP for two reasons. First, I would like to be more involved in school organizations. Second, I have come to really appreciate the APhA this past semester. It’s amazing how many different learning and advancement opportunities they present to pharmacists and student pharmacists, and it proved to be very helpful when I needed to fulfill professional meeting requirements. If I can give back by participating in their student organization then I am happy to do so. I am running for this position in particular because I was informed that I can fulfill this job’s responsibilities fully, even as a distance student. In undergrad, I started an extracurricular club by myself and recruited all its members, so I can confidently assume the responsibilities of recruitment. I would be really happy to be involved! Cindy GoldenbergRunning for Distance VP of Membership (P1)

  29. VP of Policy Candidates

  30. My passion for APHA has grown exponentially; it is one of the most important pharmacy organizations in the country and critically important to the future of the profession. My involvement with the California Pharmacists Association (CPHA) in assisting to pass provider status in the state of California gave me a great deal of insight in the national battle that APHA faces. As a CPHA student trustee candidate for 2014-2015, I would like to share my organization, knowledge and passion as the Vice President of Policy for Creighton’s APHA chapter to assist in our contributions to the provider status movement as well as other ventures that our chapter prioritizes. My experience in speech and debate allows me to communicate effectively in the House of Delegates meetings as well as the national and regional meeting liaison. Specifically, I would like tackle regional meetings nationwide to assist both the campus and distance members. Dena WestphalenRunning for VP of Policy (P2)

  31. As a current member of the Policy Committee I would love the opportunity to continue working with its member but at a greater capacity. I was in charge of writing, presenting, and updating my undergraduate sorority’s bylaws and policy statements for 2 years and have experience working with members on a local, regional and national level. I tried to focus on much as possible on the “why” behind the changes/updates and their importance to the organization as a whole. With the ever changing pharmacy world it is important that our chapter is kept up to date on new legislative advances that impact us as student and future pharmacists and be able to respond in the appropriate capacity. I feel with my background I am well suited for the position and would strive to hold the chapter to excellence in its legislative matters. Liz ScheffelRunning for VP of Policy (P2)
