  2. 1.0 INTRODUCTION Module : Research Project Module Code : MRP 1014 Credit Value : 4.00 PREREQUISITE Business Programme: Complete all core modules from Semester 1 – Semester 4 Engineering Programme: Complete all core modules from Semester 1 – Semester 5

The Research Project is mandatory for all ICAM Diploma students as a vital requirement in completing their studies. • 1.1 Objectives of RP are: • To develop the students’ basic skills in research. • To translate the students’ creativity and innovation into an actual project. • To apply all the knowledge and skills gained throughout the module. • To develop the students’ self confidence, communication, presentation, writing and time management skills. 1.0 INTRODUCTION

  4. 2.1 The student is required to form a group (max. 3 students) and propose the research topic/scope based on the area of interest and related to the respective programme. • 2.2 The research project title and application form shall be submitted on week 1 of the Academic Calendar. After that, 1 week is given for the changing of grouping and title. • 2.3 The student is required to prepare and submit the proposal to the Supervisor on week 4. Proposal will include an overview of the topic and relevant background material, and a specific plan for carrying out the research. 2.0 STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITIES

  5. 2.4 The student is to plan the work properly and prepare the RP’s timeline (e.g Gantt Chart/ PDCA). The timeline must follow the calendar provided and be attached with the proposal. 2.5 The Writing Seminar for students are scheduled on between week 5 - 8 of the Academic Calendar. Attendance is compulsory. 2.6 The student is responsible to meet the Supervisor at least once a week (consultation and monitoring). Discussion is written on Consultation sheet, verified by SV. 2.7 The student is to submit a Draft of Final Report and prepare a Presentation/demonstration on week 12. 2.8 Submission of Final Report and RP Fiesta are on Week 14. 2.0 STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITIES

  7. 4.0 ORGANISATION OF CHAPTERS Ch 1: Introduction (Appendix D) • Background, Problem Statement, Research Objectives, Significant of Study, Scope of Study. Ch 2: Literature Review (Appendix G) • Discussion on published information in a particular subject area, LR provides background information needed to understand the study. Ch 3: Methodology • A guideline system for solving a problem, with specific components such as phases, tasks, methods, techniques and tools. • Flowchart/Framework of Project. Ch 4: Results and Discussion (Appendix J) Ch 5: Conclusion and Recommendation (Appendix K) References (Appendix L)

Length of pages for proposal and final report: • The Research Proposal: 2-5 pages excluding the Title Page, Table of Content and Appendices • The Final Report: not be less than 30 pages excluding Title Page, Declaration, Acknowledgement, Table of Content, List of Tables, List of Figures and Appendices 5.1 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION OF PROPOSAL AND FINAL REPORT
