  2. Shark Attacks • Firstly shark attacks are very rare .There are also a variety of reasons sharks may attack people. Some in the know speculate in the case of great white shark attacks that it is mistaken identity of us looking like a seal when silhouetted against the surface. In many cases of shark attack the shark has been provoked by being hooked, injured or cornered and it is just a natural defense action on the shark’s part.

  3. WHAT’S FOR DINNER? The Great White Shark feeds on fish, including other sharks, sea lions, birds, sea otters, sea turtles, and even indigestible garbage. This shark can grow quite massive -- one caught off Cuba was 21 feet long and weighed 7,100 pounds! The Great White is a powerful predator known to attack humans and is sometimes considered the most dangerous shark in the world.

  4. What they LooK like… Look For : A large, gray shark with a white belly. Dusky blotch behind pectoral fin. Large, triangular teeth. Small second dorsal fin. Length : 26'. Habitat : Warm oceans, coastal waters. Range : Pacific and Atlantic Oceans.

  5. COOL THINGS I LEARNED You’re more likely to get struck by lightning than killed by a shark. Dogs kill more people than sharks. The scientific name for the great white shark is “Carcharodon carcharias” Great White Sharks have serrated teeth that are made for ripping flesh off of their prey. The movie “Jaws” was inspired by great white sharks.
