  1. Build a School in Kenya By Alex Boland and Yazmine Akamine 6th Grade

  2. Who are we helping • a Kenyan tribe called the Masai • most heard of and traditional tribe • the men are hearders • Women stay at home taking care of children • A woman has a child every year • The kids are raised in an unsafe and un healthy environment

  3. Inequality of Boys and Girls • Boys and girls in Kenya countries are not equally treated. • Usually the brothers will get first priority to the school supplies, uniforms, and the girls have to do chores before they go to school. • Because of this the girls are sometimes kicked out of school for lack of supplies and uniforms. • Girls have to do chores before school • Children have to walk 5 miles to get to a school

  4. Who is Ed Colina? Ed colina is a man who supports Kenyan people. He has helped create other schools in Kenya. He has also given children books and uniforms. So he will build a school closer to there homes, he has also talked with the chief and asked the people of the tribe if they would of liked it and Most of them including the chief said they would like that.

  5. The Schools Temporarily in Eluaai Kenya they are using there local church as a school. There has been 2 new classrooms added and a cooking shed, like a cafeteria. They have also added a latrine.(a big whole in the ground used to go to the bathroom.) This is all possible because of Ed Colina who talked with the chief and arranged this.

  6. Why? • The children in the village currently use the local church as their school. • They have added 2 new classrooms, an in-door bathroom, and a cook shed. • Children there usually don’t go to school until they are ten or eleven. • Children at the new school will be able to go to school because of the closeness of the school and there will be supplies and they will get one free meal a day. • The Ed Colina foundation is helping us to build this school and he has helped build many others too.

  7. Do You Really Want To? • If you help the school may be built in Kenya and children will be able to get an education and may do what they always dream of. • They will help Africa develop and they will get a chance like everyone else. • The school will make lots of kids less hungry and give them an advantage to there future. • They would be able to go to school much earlier than many other kids there. • Lastly they would be able to learn.

  8. Will You Help? You can donate money to us to help build the school there. Go to the website www.edcolina.org, go to the donation tab, it will go to a page and you will give some information and you will donate the amount you want. You may not be able to do much but you can do something.
