Why do you think the questions you missed were so difficult for you

  9. Physical Properties • Matter has Physical Properties that make it unique and different. • We are able to measure some of these properties to differentiate between Matter.

  12. MASS Definition: The amount of matter in an object. Similar to weight but does not have to do with gravity. Tool: Triple Beam Balance Units: Grams..

  13. *Important Reminder! • A triple beam balance has three separate lines (it’s like adding three rulers together)-you must ADD each of the lines together!

  14. Practice! What is the mass of the unknown object?

  15. Head off the the Stations.. (5 minutes) • You are walking.. • Make sure that everyone has a chance to participate.. • You have three objects.. You are going to record the mass of the three objects, pencil, paper clip, scissors in your guided notes..

  16. LIQUID • Definition: The amount of SPACE an object takes up.. • Tools: GRADUATED CYLINDER • Units: Militers or liters.

  18. Liquid Station • Pour and Measure and them try for a certain volume. • ** don’t forget your units.

  19. Guided Practice: Partner Bingo • 1. Travel around the room have have people sign off on the statements in your bingo board. • 2. All statements must have a signature and the correct answer.. • 3. We are walking, whispering, and back to our seats in time!

  20. Homework • Write a poem or a story that uses 7 of your vocabulary words in the correct context. • Try to choose a theme or a setting for your story. • Words to use: mass, grams, triple beam balance, volume, liters, graduated cylinder, matter, measuring, tools,

  22. Wednesday: Chickasaw Challenge • 1. Complete the Venn-Diagram comparing and contrasting measuring Mass and Liquid Volume • 2. How would you explain to a younger student or sibling how to read a triple Beam Balance.

  28. Volume of Regular Solid. • Definition: regular solid is one with a measurable length, width, height. We calculate by L * W * H • Tool: Ruler • Units: Cm3

  29. What is the Volume of this Classroom? • Length: 10ft. Width: 5 ft height: 5 ft.

  30. Volume of Irregular Solid Definition: the amount of space an object that cannot be measured using a ruler takes up. Tool: Water displacement Units: Ml

  31. Formula for Water Displacement New water level (after object is placed in) – Initial water level= volume of the irregular solid.

With this being said I need to see all student’s on-task at all times.. If we are not on task we move onto something else that is far less fun.. • When your group is finished you may clean up your station.. Head back to your seat and start the analysis questions.

Friday: Chickasaw Challenge • Dylan decided to make soup using the following steps: • 1) Chop up celery and carrots. • 2) Open a can of chicken broth. • 3) Fill a pot with the broth, noodles, and the vegetables. • 4) Place the pot on the gas stove and turn on the burner. • Which of these represents a chemical change? • Burning the gas • Opening the can of broth • Chopping up the vegetables • Filling the pot with the ingredients • 1. What do you like best about this class why? • 2. What do you like least about this class. why? • 3. What do you want to be when you are older?
