  2. Technology Savvy … It’s The Way Children Are Today • Students in this decade are much more technology savvy than most teachers. • Students become very independent once they have been shown the proper way of using technology and realize its purpose for instruction.

  3. Adding Technology Into Your Lessons Creates A Wonderful Experience for Your Students • Adding technology into the classroom increases enthusiasm. • It is a wonderful way to get students actively involved in learning. • When appropriate, incorporating technology seems the best way to go!

  4. Technology Forms Used in the Classroom • SuccessMaker – math program; research proves that it improves math performance • Buggles – reading program; reinforces phonemic awareness and phonics skills • Kurzweil – read aloud software program, specifically for learning disabled students, state approved program for the MSA

  5. Other Programs Used to Aid Special Education Students • Kidspiration – graphic organizer program • Microsoft Office – power point and word programs are most often used

  6. www.starfall.com • More focused for Early Childhood education • Deals with letter recognition and writing skills • Simulations and interactive games • Helps with segmenting words and blends • Helps students with end sounds and rhymes

  7. www.funbrain.com • Amazing resource for Elementary and Middle school students • Has a variety of games, simulations and ideas for a variety of subject and concentration areas : Math, Reading, Culture and the Universe (just to name a few!) • Has a wonderful translation game for ELL students – Alligator the Translator (translates from either English to Spanish or Spanish to English) • A wonderful game to help students learn about manners from other cultures – Don’t Gross Out The World
