  3. The War in Canada • July 1812, General Hull invades Canada. -Surrounded by British and Native Amer. allies. -Retreated and lost Detroit, Aug. 16.

  4. USS Constitution • Aug. 1812, “Old Ironsides” defeated British Guerriere.

  5. Burning of York • April 1813 • Capital of Canada is captured, looted, and burned. • Not the real target.

  6. Battle of Lake Erie • Sep. 1813 • U.S. navy wins battles. -Amer. Commander Oliver Hazard Perry wins at Put-In-Bay.

  7. Battle of Thames • Oct. 1813 • US General William Henry Harrison in Canada Defeats British and N. Amer. allies. -Tecumseh killed in battle.

  8. Battle of Horseshoe Bend • March 1814. • General Andrew Jackson defeat British N. Amer. Allies in the South. -Creeks lose millions of acres due to treaty.

  9. Abdication of Napoleon • British defeat Napoleon, early 1814. • Freed up British Navy and troops to fight against the USA.
