  1. Because this is the beginning of the year, I asked the Lord to give me a word for this year. • He gave me several things that we need to do individually, and I want share them with you. • This morning I will only discuss the 1st point. • BREAK OUT FAST – The Lord has been dealing with different areas of my life. • This last week has been like peeling back layers of an onion. • In order for breakthrough to come, God wants to start by dealing with issues in our hearts. • Then move onto other things. • If you have felt that this week, you are not alone.

  2. Point # 1 – As you look to this New Year, make sure you base EVERY area of your life on the Word. • Why? • Because there is a shaking that is coming to the world, and we need to make sure that our lives are built upon the solid rock foundation of His Word. • Good News: There is also a great outpouring of God’s Spirit coming at the same time.

  3. The Shaking and the Outpouring may look like 2 different events, but they are really both intertwined andhave a common purpose. • Let’s look at what is happening in the natural world first—the Shaking. • And, there is a whole lot of it going on too!

  4. This last week, amajor insurance company released their report about natural disasters in 2010: • The Haiti earthquake and floods in Pakistan and China helped make 2010 one the worst years for natural disasters in history. • Killing 295,000 people and costing $130 billion. • Americas – 365 • Asia – 310 • Europe – 120 • Africa – 90 • Australia & Oceania – 65 • Total = 950

  5. The average number of events over the past 10 years was 785. • The earthquake in Haiti was the most costly—222,570 lost their lives. • Some 56,000 died in a combination of heat waves and forest fires in Russia. • The other most destructive events were an earthquake in China in April that killed 2,700. • Floods in Pakistan –cost 1,760 lives. • Floods in China – 1,470 died.

  6. They attributed all this increase in natural disasters to Climate Change. • I might consider that rationale, but I can’t see how Climate Change contributes to earthquakes. • Here is what I believe is happening: Romans 8:19-22 – For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are. 20 Against its will, all creation was subjected to God's curse. But with eager hope, 21 the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God's children in glorious freedom from death and decay. 22 For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. (NLT)

  7. All creation is groaning from the effects of sin. • That is why we are seeing an increase in natural disasters. • Man’s sin has even affected creation. • Back to theShaking. • Add to this the idea that nations like North Korea and Iran may now possess nuclear weapons. • Israel, the Palestinian issue and the other Arab nations wanting to push Israel into the sea, and you have a potential nuclear time bomb ready to go off! • Need I say anything about our economy and national debt?

  8. We could go on and on about the world we are living in, but I think you are getting the picture. • There isa whole lot of shaking going on! • Through what eyes are you looking at these events? Through the eyes of Fear -or- Through the eyes of Faith

  9. Let’s take a step back and look at all this through the lenses of the Word of God. • THE SHAKING • Having discussed the shaking in the natural world, turn to Haggai 2:6-9 to see where I get the idea of The Shaking. • But, remember that The Shaking and The Outpouring are intertwined with the same purpose.

  10. Haggai 2:6-9 – "This is what the LORD Almighty says: `In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. 7 I will shake all nations, and the desired of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,' says the LORD Almighty. 8 `The silver is mine and the gold is mine,' declares the LORD Almighty. 9 `The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,' says the LORD Almighty. `And in this place I will grant peace,' declares the LORD Almighty."

  11. Once more God will shake the earth! • All nations—the whole planet—will be affected! • It appears that we are on the precipice of this shaking! • Notice in particular Verse 7: “I will shake all nations, and [so that] the desired of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the Lord Almighty.” • What is the purpose of the shaking? • So the “desired of all nations will come to Jesus!” • The Final Shaking is for the Final Harvest of Souls to be won into the Kingdom of God!

  12. The Shaking must take place in order for millions who are held in the grips of religious, governmental or worldly systems may be shaken loose to enter the Kingdom of God. • They would not be able to enter if the foundations they have built their lives on were not shaken and stripped away.

  13. The Outpouring • Also notice that Haggai says that all the wealth of the earth belongs to God, and the Glory of the His Last Days Churchwill be greater than the Book of Acts Church! • Many are looking for the Book of Acts type of Church, but I believe that God wants us to look beyond that. • The Glory we are about to see will FAR surpass what the early church saw—thus the Outpouring! • Let’s now look at the Outpouring by giving you a brief report of what is happening Globally with the Church—this is the Good News!

  14. 60.5 million hear the Gospel for the 1sttime every year. • That’s 166,000 daily! • How many respond with a Yesto Christ? • Since last year at this time, nearly 21,000,000 have joined the family of God. • Most of these new converts are in the Charismatic/Pentecostal movements as well. • Also since a year ago, the world has seen the sprouting of 50,000 new churches! —World Christian Database

  15. 100 years ago 9 of 10 Christians lived in North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. • Today, 7 of 10 Christians live in the non-Western world. • More people are in church every Sunday in communist China than in all of Western Europe. • There are more believers in Brazil in South America than in all of Europe! • Latin American Assemblies of God churches have 10 times the number of members as do the AG churches of the U.S. —John Stott Ministries

  16. There is a shaking and an outpouring going on at the same time. • The church is growing rapidly all over the globe as this age is drawing to a close. • Remember that the purpose of all this is for the endtime harvest, and we are seeing it happen. • It is growing and showing no signs of letting up. • Let’s develop this concept further by going into the New Testament. • Remember: We must filter all that happens in life through the lenses of God’s Word.

  17. Hebrews 12:25-29 – 25“See to it that you do not refuse Him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused Him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from Him who warns us from heaven? 26 At that time His voice shook the earth, but now He has promised, "Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens." 27 The words "once more" indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Therefore, since we are receiving a Kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, 29 for our "God is a consuming fire."

  18. A shaking is coming, so that what can be shaken will be shaken. • And, what cannot be shaken will stand &last forever! • What is it that cannot be shaken? • Quite simply put: ONLY that which is built upon the Word of God will last! • “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My Words will last forever!” (Matthew 24:35) • Is every area of your life built upon the Rock of God’s Word? • Do you have God’s Shaking Insurance? • You can only get it if you have a piece of the Rock!

  19. Matthew 7:24-27 - Jesus gives us a clear picture of the need to build our lives upon the Rock of God’s Word! • ALL else is Sinking Sand! • When the Shaking begins in full force, many things are going to fall. • Things we thought would be here forever! • Look at the banks and financial institutions or GM and Chrysler!

  20. 24"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice [obedience] is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."

  21. Where have you built your House? • Finances– The Economy of this nation and all nations are being shaken. • Where are your financial investments? • Just in the World System or have you invested or sowed into that which cannot be shaken—The Kingdom of God? • (Understand me: I am not against investments.) • But have you based your financial future on the Word (eternal) or on the World (temporary)? • Are you tithing and giving offerings? • We need to sow into that which cannot be affected by Moth or Rust!

  22. Job– Built upon the solid rock of integrity or upon compromise and deception? • What will last? • Are you doing the right thing morally or are you doing what will make you the most money?

  23. Marriage– What is the foundation of your marriage? God? Trust? • Mutual Love and Respect or is it all about you? • Are you praying together? • Having devotions? • Becoming one spiritually? • Church– are you connected to Church? • Prayer and mutual support is what will get you through this time. Hebrews 10:25 –Do not forsake assembling together, which is the habit of some.

  24. Remember only those things that are built upon the Unshakable Rock of God’s Word will last through the pressures of the shaking! • We can no longer just assume God is going to bless us just because we are Christians. • We must establish a solid foundation in every area of our lives because all else is sinking sand! • It is time for us believers to GROW UP before the CATCHING UP! • What is the natural by-product of putting the Word of God in your life? • PEACE! • Is that not we need in this hour?

  25. Colossians 3:15-17 – 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. (NIV)

  26. When I was in High School, these verses guided my life. • The key point is found in verse 16—allow the Word of Christ to richly dwell in you. • It is the glue that holds all this together. • V. 15 – Let the peace of God rule in your hearts … • When the Word is in you, it produces a peace that actually rules your heart! • 2 Words: • Rule (v. 15) – describes an umpire who calls all the shots and makes all the decisions. • When God’s Word dwells richly in your heart, the peace of God umpires youremotions.

  27. Rather than being led by the ups and downs of the day or by what you read in the newspaper or watch on cable news, you will be ruled by the peace of God! • In order to receive this benefit of God’s Word, you must let the Word dwell in you richly. • Richlycan be translated lavishly. • This is the picture of you giving the Word of God a wonderful reception as you roll out the red carpet so you can lavishly welcome it into your heart.

  28. When you let God’s Word have this place of honor, it releases its power to stabilize you and keep you in peace. • There is no doubt that we are living in the very end of the last days. • We are a chosen generation—and we will observe events that no other generation has ever seen. • If you are going to keep your heart fear-free so you can live in continual peace, you must make a commitment to let God’s Word rule in your heart! • God’s Word will protect your mind and prohibit fear from worming its way into your emotions and turning you into an emotional basket case.
