INTERPOL General Secretariat 2008 Operation Jupiter – South America Participating countries • Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay October 2006 to January 2007 • Hundreds of arrests and seizure of counterfeit and pirate goods valued at $35 Million October 2007 to March 2008 • Seizure of counterfeit and pirate goods to be in excess of $55 Million

INTERPOL General Secretariat 2008 Operation Jupiter – South America Benefits for participating countries • Development of national police expertise and IP crime investigating skills • Raised profile of IP crime as a policing priority • Catalyst for increased level of IP crime policing activity and dedicated IP crime investigative units • Continuity, better communication, cooperation and coordination between police and customs

INTERPOL General Secretariat 2008 IP Crime Investigative Training • INTERPOL and Guardia di Finanza co-hosted IP Crime training Courses • Targeted at police middle managers with responsibility for investigating transnational and organized IP crime • 100 operational police managers to be trained in 2008 • Priority given to current and future Jupiter countries • Importance of support for INTERPOL initiatives from IP crime affected industries
