  2. Mainstage season • Whether you have a taste for theatre or film, modern or classical, members of the greater Phoenix community can enjoy a range of groundbreaking artistic work at the ASU Herberger Institute School of Theatre and Film. Innovative productions and the latest digital technology are creating the future of theatre and film, and we invite you to join us in our journey. The school’s MainStage Season is the premier platform for its artists, scholars, students, and staff. We strive to push the boundaries of our disciplines through an active production program of both exciting New Works and well-established plays. Each MainStage Season features theatrical productions, a student film festival, world premieres, and at least one production suitable for youth and families. http://theatrefilm.asu.edu/events/features/mainstage.php.

  3. Nation • A parallel world, 1860. Two teenagers thrown together by a tsunami that has destroyed Mau's village and left Daphne shipwrecked on his South Pacific island thousands of miles from home. One wears next to nothing, the other a long white dress; neither speaks the other's language; somehow they must learn to survive. As starving refugees gather, Daphne delivers a baby, milks a pig, brews beer and does battle with a mutineer. Mau fights cannibal Raiders, discovers the world is round and questions the reality of his tribe's fiercely patriarchal gods. Together they come of age, overseen by a foul-mouthed parrot, as they discard old doctrine to forge a new Nation. North American premiere.

  4. Red planet respite • Some 30 ASU scientists worked with San Diego theatre company Circle Circle dot dot to inspire this piece about the prospect of life on Mars. The play is an imaginary tale set in 2044, in which serious science is thrust to the background as commercial enterprises create the first luxurious resort on the red planet. Circle Circle dot dot developed this original production with the School of Earth and Space Exploration and the Mars Rover team at ASU. www.circle2dot2.com.
