  4. 1 dissertation chosen towards the end of semester 1 or a.s.a.p. • Topics tend to favour semester 1 modules • But if you want to do it from a semester 2 module, consult tutor in semester 1 • Start as early as possible • Changing topics after semester 1 can only be done at a cost • Attend methods classes Examples of good practice are on ICS website

  5. Some tips…. • Planning is essential (essay deadlines, class preparations etc) • No. of contact hours is deceptive; most of the work you have to do yourself. • If English is not your first language, speak English with your classmates AT ALL TIMES. • If you have a problem, the earlier you consult the module tutor and personal tutor, the better • Consult the postgraduate handbook regularly
