  2. Objectives • Insert clip art. • Move and format clip art. • Create WordArt. • Work with shapes. • Modify shapes. • Control order, group, and align shapes.

  3. Insert Clip Art • Position the insertion point. • Click the Insert tab. • Click the Clip Art button to display the Clip Art task pane.

  4. Clip Art Task Pane • Search for pictures by keyword. • Key text in the Search for text box. • Check settings in the Search in and Results should be drop-down lists. • Click Go. • Click a clip to insert it into the document.

Find Clips by Browsing • Click the Organize clips link to open the Microsoft Clip Organizer. • View collections of clips organized by category. • Click the plus sign to expand a category. • Point to a picture and click the down arrow to display a pop-up menu. • Click Copy. • Click within the document and paste the clip. • Close the Microsoft Clip Organizer dialog box.

  9. Insert a Picture from a File • Position the insertion point. • Click the Insert tab. • Click the Picture button to display the Insert Picture dialog box. • Locate the folder and file. • Double-click the file.

Select Clip Art • To manipulate (size, change position, apply formatting) an object, it must be selected. • To select a Clip Art image, click the picture. • Selected graphics display a selection rectangle.Four small squares and four small circles called sizing handles appear when a graphic is selected. • The Picture Tools Format tab displays on the Ribbon when clip art is selected. • Click an area outside the borders of the clip art to deselect the clip art.

Size Clip Art • Click the object to select it. • Move the mouse pointer to a sizing handle.The mouse pointer changes to a two-pointed arrow. • The four corner sizing handles resize the object proportionately. • The top center, bottom center, and side middle handles distort the image’s original proportions as the size changes. • Drag the sizing handle.

Size Clip Art • Press [Ctrl] while dragging to prevent a change in the center of the picture. • Press [Shift] while dragging to maintain picture proportion. • Size—enlarge or reduce an object. • Scale—size an object to a percentage of its original size. • Proportional sizing—resize a picture while maintaining its relative height and width.

  15. Size Group • Select the object. • Click the Picture Tools Format tab. • Locate the Size group. • Key measurement for object height. • Key measurement for object width.

Size Dialog Box • Click the Size Dialog Box Launcher to open the Size dialog box. • Click the Size tab. • Change height and width measurements. • Change scale percentages. • Lock aspect ratio—Word scales a picture proportionately. • Relative to original picture size—Word scales a picture from its original size.

Compress Pictures • Select the picture. • Click the Picture Tools Format tab. • Click the Compress Pictures button. • Click Options. • Click to select the option to Automatically perform basic compression on save. • Compress pictures to reduce the size of the file. • All pictures cannot be compressed and maintain good image quality. • File format determines whether image data is lost during compression.

Crop Clip Art • Trim or hide part of the picture. • Cropped area is not displayed on the screen nor printed. • Cropped area remains part of the original image. • Select the picture. • Click the Picture Tools Format tab. • Click the Crop button. • Place the cropping tool over a sizing handle and drag to remove a part of the picture. • Release the mouse button. • Press [Esc] to return to the normal pointer.

  21. Outcrop • Select the picture. • Click the Picture Tools Format tab. • Click the Crop button. • Drag a handle outward from the center of the picture. • Press [Esc] to return to the normal pointer.

  22. Restore Clip Art • Select the picture. • Click the Picture Tools Format tab. • Click the Reset Picture button. OR • Select the picture. • Click the Picture Tools Format tab. • Locate the Size group and click the Size Dialog Box Launcher. • Click the Reset button. • Close the Size dialog box.

  23. Move Clip Art • Select the picture. • Click the Cut button on the Home tab or press [Ctrl]+[X]. • Position the insertion point and paste the picture. • Use drag and drop to move clip art.

  25. Delete Clip Art • Select the object. • Press [Delete] or [Backspace]

Wrapping Style • Default wrapping style is in-line. • An in-line graphic is treated like a character and aligns with the current paragraph. • Change the text wrapping style to change an in-line graphic to a floating graphic. • A floating graphic is placed on the drawing layer of the Word document. • Floating graphics move freely and can be layered behind or in front of text.

  27. Change Wrapping Style • Select the picture. • Click the Picture Tools Format tab. • Click the Text Wrapping button. • Select an option. • Point to the picture and notice the shape of the mouse pointer. • Drag the picture. The picture moves freely on the page. • Text wraps around the picture.

  30. Picture Appearance • Select the picture. • Click the Picture Tools Format tab. • Locate the Adjust group. • Click the Brightness button. • Click the Contrast button. • Click Picture Corrections Options in the Brightness or Contrast drop-down menu to open the Format Picture dialog box. • Click the Recolor button.

Rotate and Flip • Select the picture. • Click the Picture Tools Format tab. • Locate the Arrange group. • Click the Rotate button to display rotate and flip options. • Click the Rotate button.Click More Rotation Options to open the Size dialog box. Key a specific number in the Rotation box. • Manually rotate an object by dragging the rotation handle.

  34. WordArt • Special effects for text. • Text becomes a graphic object. • Use existing text or key text.

Create WordArt • Click the Insert tab on the Ribbon. • Locate the Text group, and click the WordArt button. • Click a style from the WordArt gallery. • Key or paste text in the Text box.You can also select text before clicking the WordArt button. • Click OK.WordArt is inserted as in-line graphic.

Format WordArt • Click the WordArt object to select it. • The WordArt Tools Format tab displays. • Locate the WordArt Styles group and click the More arrow to display the WordArt gallery. • Click the Change Shape button. • Add a warp style to WordArt. • Click the Shape Outline button. • Change the color, weight, and style of the shape outline border. • Click the Shape Fill button. • Add a color, gradient, texture, or pattern.

Format WordArt • Click the Position button. • Change the text wrapping style or to position the WordArt graphic. • Click the Shadow button to apply a shadow style. • Click the Shadow Nudge buttons to move the shadow. • Click the 3-D Effects button to apply a 3-D effect. • Click the 3-D Tilt buttons to move the 3-D effect.

Draw Shapes • Click the Insert tab, and locate the Illustrations group. • Click the Shapes button. • Select a category and shape. • Draw the shape. • The mouse pointer changes to a crosshair. • Drag down and to the right. • Selected shape appears and the Drawing Tools Format tab displays on the Ribbon.

Create Shapes • Click the Oval tool, and press [Shift] to draw a circle. • Click the Rectangle tool, and press [Shift] to draw a square. • Click the Line tool, and press [Shift] to draw a straight line. • Press [Shift] while drawing to maintain an object’s width-to-height ratio. • Press [Ctrl] to draw from the center point instead of from an edge. • Click a shape tool and click once in the document or Drawing Canvas to insert a shape with a predefined size. • Right-click a shape and click Lock Drawing Mode to draw several copies of the same shape. Press [Esc] to return to the normal pointer. • Display rulers to help estimate size and position of objects. • Adjust the zoom level if necessary.

  44. Drawing Canvas • Drawing Canvas is a bordered area in the document where you can size, move, and change objects as a group. • Use the Drawing Canvas when you plan to insert several shapes.

  45. Drawing Canvas • Click the Insert tab, and locate the Illustrations group. • Click the Shapes button. • Click New Drawing Canvas.Drawing Canvas appears in document. • Draw shapes in the Drawing Canvas. • Right-click the canvas to display a shortcut menu with Drawing Canvas options.

Modify Shapes • Select one shape by clicking the shape. • Select multiple shapes by clicking one shape, pressing [Shift] or [Ctrl], and clicking each shape. • Select multiple shapes by drawing a selection rectangle. • Using the normal mouse pointer, position the tip of the mouse pointer above and to the left of the first object. • Press the left mouse button and draw a rectangle by dragging down and to the right to surround the objects with a dashed border. • When the mouse is released, the objects enclosed in the selection rectangle are selected.

  48. Size Shapes • Select the shape or shapes. • Point to a sizing handle and drag when the two-pointed arrow displays.Corner handles maintain proportion. • Change the contour of a shape by dragging the yellow diamond handle.

  50. Move Shapes • Select the shape or shapes. • Move the mouse pointer inside a shape and drag when the four-pointed arrow displays. • Note: You can drag a shape from one Drawing Canvas to another.
