  2. School performance framework (SPF)

  3. Purpose of SPF The School Performance Framework (SPF) is a comprehensive system to help schools focus on strengths and areas for targeted improvement. It takes into account a wide range of factors to give ratings on how well each school supports student growth and achievement and how well each school serves its students and families.

  4. What is the SPF? • DPS launched the SPF in 2008 to help ensure that all of our schools are places of academic excellence. • The SPF is an important tool in measuring our progress toward achieving our district vision – EVERY CHILD SUCCEEDS.

  5. What are SPF Ratings? Based on the percentage of overall points earned, schools receive one of five overall ratings.

  6. Historical spf data

  7. 2013 tcap data

  8. What is a Growth Percentile? • The student growth percentile tells us how a student's current test score compares with that of other similar students (students across the state whose previous test scores are similar). • A student growth percentile defines how much relative growth a student made. The Colorado Growth Model serves as a way for educators to understand how much growth a student makes relative to a student's "academic peers." • A student growth percentile of 60 indicates the student grew as well or better than 60% of her academic peers.

  9. Levels of Growth • A student growth percentile for a single child that falls below the 35th percentile reflects low growth. • A student growth percentile for a single child that falls within the 35th-65th percentile range reflects Typical Growth. • A student growth percentile for a single child that is above the 65th percentile reflects High Growth.

  17. Survey Statements, continued… • Our school effectively engages parents/guardians. • Our staff has a voice in decision-making. • As a staff, we follow through on things we commit to. • As a staff, we have a voice in creating and implementing the school’s vision. • As a staff, we effectively collaborate with one another. • As a part of my data team, I am increasing my ability to use data to inform my instruction. • Staff in this school trust one another.

  18. Survey Responses

  19. Unified improvement plan (UIP)

  20. UIP Focus • Priority Performance Challenge: The MGP in Reading has decreased from 62.5 in 2009 to 59 in 2013, which meets the state expectation, but is below the district expectation of 65 for high growth. • Major Improvement Strategy: Teachers will deepen their understanding of and expertise in teaching critical thinking skills across all content area. These skills include reading carefully, synthesizing what is read and writing responses that cite evidence from the text.
